He did say street fight, so anything goes. :)

So who's game to throw the first punch, or should I say kick for us?

Maybe not every single time, but yes. If we got him to the ground, no problem I would think.

I'm going to bow out of this fight though and allow Alexander Gustafsson to take care of things Sept 27th at UFC 178. :)

I thought Jones is sitting on the fence and doesn't wanna fight him? Seems weird since Gustaffson would be harder than Cormier.

I think Cormier would beat Jones and I'll probably bet him if they fight. I don't think he'll hurt him badly or anything but Cormier can get him off his feet. Might even be a boring fight but I can't see anyone staying on their feet vs Cormier at 205

Fight was announced only about an hour or so ago. Cormier is nasty. He would have to do more GnP than he did with Hendo though after using the wrestling (should be the diff in the fight). I like Gus. I think he won the first fight (don't wanna go there again though lol). I expect him to win here. He claims he is KO'ing him. I wanna see it...

Cormier isn't the most exciting or dynamic fighter but its just his 1 skill no one has an answer for. As long as he gets his hands on the guy he is going to take them down, his strength is too great.....He threw Josh Barnett around like a ragdoll and he is way bigger than Jones. Say what you want about Barnett but no one does that to him, hes on every drug there is.

Feels like Bones is gonna try to play this out and avoid him as long as possible.

Jones is already making an excuse his bro's wedding is in July, and wanted the fight in Oct or November. He should have 8+ week to prepare. Perfect.

He does say that he thinks Cormier is the tougher opponent. I'm a big fan of DC. Would love to see him beat Jones, but Gus has the skills to do it. Even if Gus wins, it could still set up DC vs Bones...

Laugh if you want, but I think I could submit him in a jiu jitsu only match. If not, then definitely win on points. A lot of guys I know probably could. In a full fledged fight, he would definitely get the best of me, unfortunately...I would love to spar with him to learn some things. Several guys I've trained with have spent time with him at Jackson's and enjoyed it.

I don't know you at all but I will say not a chance in hell...

He's a white belt in Jiu jitsu. Believe what you want, but I've got 10 years on him, along with a lot of the guys I train with.

A lot of UFC guys get subbed at grappling tourneys. One fighting this weekend, Benson Henderson, I've seen get subbed in less than a minute twice, and get outright dominated numerous times.

If you can get at him in a small, enclosed space it might be possible if the 2 guys know what they are doing. Give the guy room and he's going to dance around while knocking you both out.

No clue on your skills but you also have to remember that belt levels mean very little other than time spent to former wrestlers. Not an indicator of skill for most MMA guys. Weidman is only a brown I think and he had no trouble on the ground with Maia who is a world champ. Tough to tell how good a guy really is. Jones' MMA Jiu Jitsu is excellent because of other threats he poses, who knows how he does in tourney format but I'd imagine he'd beat alot of guys in timed matches where position is judged. The only guy to ever have Jones in trouble in MMA is Vitor who a lot of people question the credentials of his black belt. He's fared way better against much better ground fighters. Has Jones ever done a Jits tourney?

Here's Jones back in 2008 at a tourney when he was just learning. The other guy was a very experienced tournament winning Sambo practitioner and former collegiate wrestler... Even back then Jones' physical dominance was showing.

Exactly, we are talking about the light heavyweight champion of the world here. Sonnen one of the best wrestlers ever in MMA got thrown around like a rag doll against Jones.

1) I'm talking gi, not no-gi. I doubt I could get him no-gi (wrestling and speed is way better than mine as it should be as he's 9 years younger).

2) I don't think his MMA jitz is great. It is good though. His GnP is the best out there, however.

In 2008, he had NEVER even trained in a gi. He has barely been training in a gi for even a year to this date...

Gi you'd definitely have more of a chance for sure. Doubt he has trained much in a gi at all. I'm no stud but I'm passable at no gi. Tried it with the gi for the first time and spun when someone had a hold of the top of gi. Had to tap after choking myself out. Whole different ballgame.

Cormier is much slower, shorter, and has less reach. Getting his hands on Jones will not be easy at all. I think "Bones" stands outside and picks him apart. If it goes to the ground then Cormier won't be able to do much because of those long legs. Cormier's best shot is to lay on top and do nothing for 5 rounds but I can't see it happening.

Correct. I got tapped in less than a minute (collar choke) by a guy I could run through wrestling my first time in a gi.

Not trying to sit here and try to sound like a bad ass at all as he would DESTROY me in no-gi and an MMA fight, but put the gi on, and I got him out of his comfort zone. To add, I know strength wise I'm stronger than he is, and 4 inches shorter with a stronger base. Not hating on the guy at all. He is a great all around fighter.

Personally I don't see Jones getting through Gus again to make it happen anytime soon, but I guess they could screw Cormier and set up a #1 contender match with him and Bones if he loses.

A lot of people agree with you on that but I don't see it. I think a motivated Jones wins and stops the fight one way or the other

I hope I'm wrong, hate Jones
