Now, I have made it clear that the United States government had nothing to do with this video, and I believe its message must be rejected by all who respect our common humanity. It is an insult not only to Muslims, but to America as well — for as the city outside these walls makes clear, we are a country that has welcomed people of every race and every faith. We are home to Muslims who worship across our country. We not only respect the freedom of religion, we have laws that protect individuals from being harmed because of how they look or what they believe. We understand why people take offense to this video because millions of our citizens are among them….The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.

Secretary of State John Kerry, 2014: Last year, as ISIS released video after video of the beheadings of Westerners, Secretary of State Kerry explained that his mission was to promote true Islam – which makes perfect sense, given his status as imam of Martha’s Vineyard:
[Our effort] has to start major efforts to delegitimize ISIS’s claim to some religious foundation for what it’s doing and begin to put real Islam out there and draw lines throughout the region.
If you forgot the provision of Article II that lends authority to the State Department to “begin to put real Islam out there,” presumably in violation of the separation of church and state, that’s because it doesn’t exist. But don’t worry: Obama’s on the job.
Even as the Obama administration pretends to push “true Islam,” the Obama administration completely ignored the words of Egyptian leader General Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, who just days ago called for a “religious revolution” in the Muslim world. Al-Sisi explained:
I say and repeat, again, that we are in need of a religious revolution. You imams are responsible before Allah. The entire world is waiting on you. The entire world is waiting for your word … because the Islamic world is being torn, it is being destroyed, it is being lost. And it is being lost by our own hands….It’s inconceivable that the thinking that we hold most sacred should cause the entire Islamic world to be a source of anxiety, danger, killing and destruction for the rest of the world. Impossible that this thinking — and I am not saying the religion — I am saying this thinking. This is antagonizing the entire world. It’s antagonizing the entire world! Does this mean that 1.6 billion people (Muslims) should want to kill the rest of the world’s inhabitants — that is 7 billion — so that they themselves may live? Impossible!
Al-Sisi seems significantly more qualified to lead an educational effort about Islam than Barack Obama. But for the Obama administration to recognize the truth of al-Sisi’s statement would suggest that their own ignorance about Islam has prevented them from effecting change for the past six years. And that is an admission that President Obama and his lackeys refuse to make, given their deeply held belief that Islam isn’t the problem in any way.

The problem with radical Islam is...radical modern liberalism.
As a journalist for 30 years, and someone whose wife was born and raised in Paris, I feel particularly incensed by what’s just happened in that wonderful city to so many fellow journalists and Parisians.
I’m no great advocate for the kind of savage satirical stuff Charlie Hebdo used to pump out. Some of it was funny, some plain nasty.
But they were a non-discriminatory offender, everyone copped it.
My own faith’s leader, the Pope, was lampooned far more regularly and wickedly than the Prophet Mohammad ever was.
Yet I didn’t see Roman Catholics storming to Paris to kill everyone involved in mocking him.
Why should one religion be afforded special rights to being offended?
In the end, it comes down to this: killing someone for drawing an offensive cartoon is infinitely more offensive than any cartoon could possibly be.
And if you don’t agree with that premise, then you are as deluded as those who inflict the terror - and should have these words tattooed on your forehead: JE SUIS STUPIDE.

The price of living in an open society, with the precious freedoms we take for granted, is that all of us, great and small, are vulnerable to attackers consumed by hatred for our culture, its values, and manifest superiority to those from which they come.
Globalisation places a disturbing number of such people in our midst, rather than far away in Somalia or Iran.
The good news is that although Islamic fanatics can cause us pain and grief, they pose no existential threat as did Hitler’s Germany or Stalin’s Soviet Union.
They cannot be compromised or parleyed with, because they have no rational political demands: they claim affiliation to a feudal order in which women are denied rights, technology is banished and mullahs arbitrate over daily life.
There is a vital job to be done, addressing Islamic extremism in schools. In Britain alone, the cases exposed last year in Birmingham and East London represent only the tip of a frighteningly large iceberg. Many schools and a number of misnamed Muslim ‘charities’ are promoting values totally at odds with those of our society, and unacceptable to it.
It is not easy for the authorities and the Charities Commission to move against them, because the claims of human rights, multiculturalism and community harmony are invoked in defence of a right to espouse extremist doctrine.
B ut it seems essential to recognise the scandal for what it is, and to act urgently and decisively against extremist Muslims who peddle alien, anti-social — and in some cases, violent — values.
Those who argue in favour of according ‘traditional British tolerance’ towards ‘young Muslim hotheads’ ignore the seriousness of what is going on around us. At least 300 British-born Muslims are currently thought to be fighting as jihadis in Iraq and Syria, alongside thousands more from other European nations.
These people cannot be compared — as liberal columnists sometimes foolishly suggest — with the young romantics who left Britain in the Thirties to fight General Franco’s fascism in the Spanish Civil War.
My old friend the military historian Professor Sir Michael Howard makes an important point: we in the West like to delude ourselves that most of the world wants to share the cultural freedom we cherish.

These towns are just gone, burned down. The whole area is covered in bodies.
This would make the massacre among the most deadly terror attacks in history.
