I didn't read everything above, but I would take a team that plays in a conference that has a conference championship game (to get the extra game), and also would look at future schedules to see if they have Hawaii on any (because I think you still get to play an extra game if you play at Hawaii to off-set travel costs).

Me and a group of friends are putting together a $1000 TEN YEAR BET.

We have all known eachother since highschool and all leave near eachother.

The bet is $1000 a man (10 guys)
All the $$$ has been put in an escrow account w/ interest. (one of the guys is a lawyer)
We each had to draw a number out of a hat to get the selection order

The bet:
Pick a college football team.
Who ever has the most wins at the end of the ten years wins it all.
The intrest earned goes towards a weekend in Atlantic City. (we live in Jersey)

The RX forum is great, been reading (and posting alittle) for a few years now and really respect the input of a select few.

My question to you... Who would you pick? (and a little blurb on why)

Thanks guys.

Good luck on your season.

:toast:
Do you all have to pick different teams? I mean the obvious choice is USC because they will never fade as a top recruiting school. Thats what you want long proven ground... so the best place to do that are the top track records..

USC
Ohio State
Oklahoma
Texas

If you want to gamble on program building go with
USF, Florida, Michigan, Kansas, Missouri

However with so much on the line I personally take the safest bet.. USC

Does it have to be Division I? If not, select a school from a division that has a playoff system and consistently goes deep into the playoffs.

I Would.............................

I Would NOT Take USC, Even w/ The 1st Pick............They Will Drop Off In The Next 4-5 Years & Even Have A Few 6 WIN SEASONS. Carroll Is Not Going To Be There For The Next 10 Years & When He Leaves/Retires....The Trojans Will Drop Off.

I Would Also STAY AWAY From The SEC.....B/C They Take Wins From Each Other. Though I See Urban Staying @ Florida & The Gators Winning Atleast 9 A Year.

BOISE..BYU..UTAH........Someone Like That....Is Going To Be Your Best Bet IMO.

Sounds Fun!

I'd definitely pick a big name school from one of the bigger conferences. Taking a team from a smaller conf could be dangerous. What if they change conf and move into a bigger one.

I'd take USC, Florida or Ohio St, in that order, followed by LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, Georgia, Alabam,Colorado, Florida St.

The last 3 are going to turn it around and start winning again.

10 years ago, Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn St, Alabama, UCLA, Braska, would all be on the list. Look how that has changed now.

Don't take a big 10 team . They don't play a conference championship game which leaves you 1 game short every season . Could cost you 10 wins over the life of your bet . Usc has built a dynasty there and don't see any pac-10 team catching them also their coach is there to stay .
