Allow me to vent for a moment because this one takes the cake.
My 75 dime #9 in a row goes down because the ghost of John Calipari horrible game coach in close games rises again. 24 hours later you still can't believe it.
You remember Calipari. The coach of Memphis who blew a 9-point lead with 2:12 to go in the national champiohship game only to lose in OT to Kansas!!!!!
Yeah, that John Calipari and what he did yesterday made that game look like a 2nd grade game at your local YMCA.
With over 14 minutes to go in the 2nd half his Arkansas Razorbacks led 59-41.
First mistake: why are you doubling their big man in the post and leaving spot of 3-point shooters wide open???? You are up 18. You don't need to double.
Over the next 14:36 to close the game it only gets better!!!
At the 12:41 mark they got 2 free throws and they didn't score again until there was 2:37 to go in the game. They didn't score again for over 10 minutes.
He waited for the TV timeouts at under 12 and under 8 and it wasn't until the South Carolina run had reached 17-2 that he finally called one at the 4:47 mark.
It was now 61-58 and when SC scored with 2:37 to go the run had reached 19-2 and the game was 61-60.
It is almost incomprehensible for a coach with the talent Arkansas has can sit back and watch his team get outscored 19-2 and go 10:04 without scoring!!!!
Bottom line: it shouldn't have come down to Razorbacks guard Johnell Davis, the best free throw shooter on the team at 83%, going to the line with 14 seconds to go.
It's 70-64. He is shooting a 1-1 to push the lead to 8 and the cover intact. He was 4-4 from the line for the day when commentator Dan Shulman had to do it.
"The Razorbacks are a perfect 13 of 13 from the line today."
Yup, with a chance to put the game away and push the lead to 8 and the cover, he misses and the nonsense that followed to close out the game was irrelevant.
And that includes the 2 free throws Davis hit with 2 seconds to go for the final score.
So I say to you again, sometimes you are just not meant to win a game in this business and that was most certainly was the case yesterday.

Because if that is what it takes for me to lose my hottest release, I feel pretty damn good about handing you #9 out of 10.
