What are the Vikings up to? THey need a solid, strong armed, QB with the receiving weapons they have.

I doubt Sam Darnold is their plan to be the starter.

Could they have a deal worked out to trade up for one of the top three QB draft prospects?

Darnold Won't Be The Starter They Will Draft A QB Either Trade Up Or Wait To See If McCarthy Is There At 11. Will Probably Keep Dobbs Or Mullens As The 3rd Stringer.

What is the negative "off field" stuff they are talking about Joe Mixon?
Not guilty

Mixon had been accused of pulling a gun on a woman after a road rage incident and saying he should shoot her in the face

While Thursday closed criminal proceedings for Mixon, he is still dealing with the fallout of another gun-related incident from earlier in the year. Mixon is facing a lawsuit regarding the shooting of his teenage neighbor in March that resulted in felony assault charges against Lamonte Brewer, the boyfriend of Mixon's sister.

Titans to sign WR Calvin Ridley to 4-year, $92M deal.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Wide receiver Calvin Ridley is signing a four-year, $92 million contract, including $50 million guaranteed, with the Tennessee Titans, agents David Mulugheta and Reza Hesam told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday.
Ridley joins DeAndre Hopkins and Treylon Burks as the top pass-catchers for second-year quarterback Will Levis.
Tennessee also agreed to one-year deal with former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph, a source confirmed to ESPN. Rudolph's deal is worth up to $3.62 million according to NFL Network, which first reported the news. Rudolph will compete with third-year quarterback Malik Willis for the backup role behind Levis. The Titans have a 1-2 record in Willis' three career starts.
After returning from a season-long 2022 suspension for violating the NFL's gambling policy, Ridley caught 76 passes for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns for the Jaguars in 2023. The season opener against the Indianapolis Colts marked 23 months between games for Ridley.

Raiders release Jimmy Garoppolo, Hunter Renfrow, two others.

HENDERSON, Nev. -- The Las Vegas Raiders released quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and former Pro Bowl slot receiver Hunter Renfrow on Wednesday, the first day of the NFL's new league year.
The moves save the Raiders more than $19 million in salary cap space under the new front office of general manager Tom Telesco and coach Antonio Pierce.
Garoppolo signed a three-year, $72.75 million free agent contract with $33.75 million guaranteed with Las Vegas last March, when Josh McDaniels was the coach and Dave Ziegler was GM. While Garoppolo was due an $11.25 million roster bonus on Sunday, his $11.25 million base salary guarantee for the 2024 season can now also be voided due to a two-game suspension handed down by the league last month for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drugs policy.
The violation was said to be related to Garoppolo using a prescribed medication without having a valid therapeutic use exemption from the NFL, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
While he is now free to sign with any team, Garoppolo is not appealing the suspension and will have to sit out the first two regular-season games for his new team.

Thanks. Jeez!!! Does Houston really need to be taking all that on with the young promising team they have?

No one will ever be able to prove it one way or another but I think Houston just made a big mistake.

Just Was Wondering If The 49ers Would Be Willing To Bring Back Jimmy G To Backup Purdy. They Need Another QB After Losing Darnold And They Went To A SB With Jimmy G And Would Get Him Pretty Cheap This Time.

In my opinion they were way better off with Darnold.

Not a Jimmy G fan.

Well They Have A Need Now For A Backup QB And The Familiarity With Jimmy G Would Make Sense. I Mean If Buffalo Brought Back Trubisky To Backup Allen Why Not Jimmy G Back To SF. We'll Find Out If SF Has Any Interest In Doing So.

Joe Flacco agrees with Colts on one-year deal, sources say.

The Indianapolis Colts and veteran quarterback Joe Flacco have reached agreement on a one-year deal worth up to $8.7 million, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday.
Flacco, who played for the Cleveland Browns last season and won NFL Comeback Player of the Year honors, will receive $4.5 million guaranteed in the deal, according to sources.
In Indianapolis, Flacco will back up and mentor second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson. Flacco also will provide some peace of mind for the Colts after Richardson missed 12 games as a rookie following a season-ending shoulder injury and one game earlier in the campaign because of a concussion.

Jimmy G could land in New Orleans as the backup for Derek Carr. You have to take into account his time in San Francisco and his understanding of the offense that new OC Klint Kubiak is bringing to the Saints.

A couple of high-profile free-agent deals have prompted the NFL to take a closer look at how they were completed.
The league is looking into potential tampering by the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons prior to the start of free agency as part of its standard review process, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported.
The reviews focus on two specific deals from this week: Kirk Cousins' signing with Atlanta, and Saquon Barkley's move to Philadelphia, with public comments related to each agreement drawing additional attention, per Pelissero.
Cousins officially signed a four-year, $180 million deal with Atlanta on Wednesday, while Barkley signed a three-year, $37.75 million contract with the Eagles, a division rival of Barkley's former employer, the New York Giants.

Seahawks trading for Commanders QB Sam Howell, sources say.

The Seattle Seahawks are acquiring quarterback Sam Howell in a trade with the Washington Commanders, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday.
Seattle will receive Howell, a fourth-round pick (No. 102 overall) and a sixth-rounder (No. 179) in exchange for picks in the third (No. 78) and fifth (No. 152) rounds, the sources told Schefter. The third-rounder the Seahawks are giving up is their own pick -- they have an extra pick in the third round via a trade with the Denver Broncos last April.
The trade for Howell, who started for Washington last season, solidifies the Seahawks' quarterback depth after Drew Lock agreed to sign with the New York Giants in free agency -- and it could mean competition for Geno Smith for the No. 1 job.
Smith and Howell are the only two quarterbacks on Seattle's roster.
