I know he was clutch, I have read about some of his hot streaks...and not many remember he had a big game the day Bucky Dent etched his name in baseball history, and taking lefty Guidry deep , I would imagine Guidry didn`t give up many homers to lefthanded hitters , especially that year! But for that game Yaz will be remembered for popping out to Nettles...in fact didn`t Yaz end the 75 series as well?

I was at his last game in Memorial Stadium, correct me if I`m wrong Fish, I believe Boggs was playing that game, I could go look but I think it was `83...Yaz had that classic stance...

Yes, 1983 was his last year.

Sorry about being a little on edge with a YAZ conversation, but he was my all-time favorite player as a youth in the 60's and 70's.

Every uniform I wore was #8, no matter what the sport.

Was able to witness live, Carl's 1500th RBI in old Metropolitan Stadium in Minnesota and also catch his final at-bat ever in Royals Stadium, A PINCH-HIT GAME WINNING DOUBLE IN THE TOP OF THE 8TH INNING AT THE AGE OF 43!!

Hi Guys!

Would like to put a vote in for Bill Mazeroski at second base. In his day it was very difficult to get a ground ball to the outfield if it had to travel through his territory.

Mud, Mr. Jones - Neither Dwight Evans nor Andre Dawson came close to the defensive skills of Roberto Clemente. His mixture of speed, arm, hops, hustle and desire may never be seen again.

I guarantee you the fielding is better in the Big West confrence than the American leauge. MLB is not solid defensively, and often times very stupid with players throwing to the wrong base and missing cutoff men.

Kodiak- your going to choose Brookens over Aurelio?

Also, I didn`t realize George Scott won 8! WOW! He didn`t need that helmet he wore in the field ...the Boomer!

After further review I should have selected Bonds instead of Henderson...I didn`t see Yaz enough...

The Orioles were the team with the most Gold Gloves back in the day...with Brooksie, Blair, Belanger, Grich, Boog was good, even Eddie won 3...Dempsey, Cal...it was pitching defense and the 3 run homer, just the way The Earl of Baltimore liked it!

wait a second... there are mental mistakes from young foriegn players at the BIG LEAGUE level no question. But make no mistake the feilding at csfullerton or long beach st. or reno, etc. is in noway better then that in the show...

from the range to the arm strength, down to just the basic fundamentals MLB baseball is amazing... You'll learn more in one minor league season then you would in 4 years of college... and that is a fact....

I thought maybe Rail might mention one of the Little League World Series Champion Japan infielders.
