The even worse part of this is that everyone seems to be upset about 1 person killing 1 particular lion. According to a 2013 National Geographic article I just read, around 600 lions are killed each year on trophy hunts. They estimated the number of lions in the wild being 32,000 or less. Perhaps the rage against this dentist can evolve to rage against killing all lions (or tigers, leopards, etc.) for entertainment purposes.
A few very excellent points made within this thread, this ^^^ amongst those.
I suppose the archaic practice of displaying the heads of animals killed on one's wall comes from way back in history where either people's safety was threatened by such animals and/or this started as a way for a guy to show off his hunting prowess? His domination of the elements around him? His Machismo?
Whatever it was its an outdated tradition, certainly within Urban areas, like, where killing Lions and other large animals to survive (to eat and/or preserve one's safety) is no longer necessary.
"
Rhino horns are a sign of wealth and stature in Vietnam" as cited by PatsFan is a similar outdated obsolete completely irrelevant to today's world thus stupid "Tradition". I won't be investing energy in trying to convince any Vietnamese of that though, like arguing with a Brick Wall (
and an exceptionally dense Brick Wall at that) I'd reckon.....to try and convince a Vietnamese to evolve beyond old-ass stupid traditions....
This guy has had at least one problem arise before, as result of a bad decision involving hunting and then lying in regards to that. Seems this time he has really excelled, like, accomplished the PINNACLE of bad decision relating to Hunting. This guy just does not seem very smart.
