Can't help but wonder how many people who are furious about the lion being killed have absolutely no problem with humans snipping the spinal cords of human fetuses, then using "less crunchy" methods to kill them and preserving the fetus' body parts so that they can be sold for a profit.

life of a lion snuffed out = outrage
life of a human snuffed out = who cares

but don't call them hypocrites!

There's a new story about him being fined for illegally shooting a bear several years ago. He had a permit, but apparently shot the bear outside of the zone/area he could legally shoot it. He was fined $3,000.

He also settled a sexual harassment suit in 2006 for $127,000 w/ a former receptionist.

PETA is all over this as well.

This dude's life is ruined.

You have to remember; liberals don't think a fetus is a "human"....it's a fetus. They also are outraged over the death penalty.

Glad his life is ruined. Seems like a rich dude that takes advantage of his money.

But, PETA is the hypocrite here. 90% of the animals PETA says they save, they Kill.

I believe in abortions, I believe in the death penalty (we should have public hanging every Sunday in Town Hall), I believe in conservation, I am a hunter, but what this coward did was wrong. Sounds like it's just a game he plays that is finally catching up to him.

I'm fine with killing what you need to eat. I'm not gonna tell anyone they can't eat but hunting for sport I can't see the appeal of unless you just want to overcompensate for something else.

Rhino horns are a sign of wealth and stature in Vietnam so they get killed all the time in Africa. Big money in it.

Yeah, I mean, this shit isn't for me. Don't know anything about it but guys pay big money to do it all the time and there's no outrage. Sounds like he got taken and he shot the wrong lion but no difference between him and the next rich guy that shoots a lion in Africa.

You may have already seen more information on the news, but a lot of what your saying isn't relevant based on the information that has come out. The guys that pay big money, and there is no outrage go out, and go after the animals, which in my opinion is still disgusting (WTF is the point in killing a beautiful animal just to say you did it.. disgusting). This POS and his "guide" tied a f'ing dead carcass to the back of a truck, and used it to lure the lion out of a protected area at night (like this POS dentist didn't realize that was sketchy, he knew.) shined a spotlight on it, then shot it with a bow. When he was too big a pvssy to actually kill it with the bow, they tracked it and shot it with a gun. Once they realized it had a GPS and they were screwed for sure (again, they knew beforehand what they were doing was illegal, regardless of what they say. If the didn't, why not kill the lion where it was rather than lure it away?) they tried to destroy the GPS and failed. What this POS and those "guides" did isn't anywhere close to hunting.

Yep-but I'm assuming, just like the Argentina dove hunts, that no meat actually gets wasted.
I'm sure the guide's fam/friends/village gets it all.

Someone maybe already said this but they found the rotting headless body in the sun after it had been skinned. No one was going to eat it except the maggots and birds

The even worse part of this is that everyone seems to be upset about 1 person killing 1 particular lion. According to a 2013 National Geographic article I just read, around 600 lions are killed each year on trophy hunts. They estimated the number of lions in the wild being 32,000 or less. Perhaps the rage against this dentist can evolve to rage against killing all lions (or tigers, leopards, etc.) for entertainment purposes.

PETA is bad news for animals. One of the worst organizations out there.

Agree. Also, how many people that complain about hunting still eat meat? Like bilbal mentioned in another post, look at the outrage over the killing of this lion. People are getting slaughtered all over the Middle East and it's like oh well.

At the beginning of the 20th century there were 500,000 rhinos across Africa and Asia. This fell to 70,000 by 1970 and further to just 29,000 in the wild today. Despite this bleak picture, and the continuing threat of poaching for their valuable horns, global rhino population figures have been increasing in recent years.

Crazy Southeasterners....I guess atleast killing Rhino has an element of for profit endeavor to it, rather than just shooting a lion for fun.

This isn't the first illegal hunt he's been involved with (illegally killed a bear in Wisconsin), so my opinion of this jackass went down even further. This is the kind of guy that doesn't believe rules apply to him. I have absolutely no sympathy for him. I hope he ends up doing some hard time in a crappy Zimbabwean prison...
