hard. Did not want to lose 2 straight and have the Yankees get momentum on their side. Good game. Sox pitching is a little deeper. Big needed W is very close. Pedroia and Crisp are playing well right now.

Every Red Sox-Yankees game has been borderline unwatchable this year. Each game between the two takes about 4 hours to play as opposed to under 3 for every other game.

Let's cut the BS and quit pretending that the games are meaningful and exciting just because it's the Red Sox and Yankees.

Are you kidding me? Today was a back and forth game and a good tight game for most of it. Hr's, plenty of runs, etc. The First game they played this year the Sox rallied for a bunch of runs against Rivera. Place was rockin n both games. And plenty more of these games. To say it is unwatchable is ABSURD. Not even close. I understand the hatred and jealousy about Boston and new york but too bad. That is the way it goes. Read another thread or something....but make as least a little sense.

I understand it's watchable for you. A 13.5 game lead and an 11-6 victory. Exorcising last year's Red Sox meltdown. I get that it would be exciting to be a Red Sox fan right now.

These double digit run marathon games are fun every once in a while but not EVERY single game. Just my opinion, but I'd rather watch a 2-1 pitcher's duel that clocks in at 2:30.

And this is off topic of this thread, but it is definitely time for the AL to get rid of the DH. That way Jason Giambi's career can be over sooner rather than later.

Even though the best hitter for the Red Sox is probably our DH, actually going to agree here.

Get the pitchers out there in the box.

hatred...yes. jealousy...no.

that these teams have 200 million dollar payrolls is a joke. play on a even playing fiels like other sports and you would never hear about either of these teams.
in the last 10 yrs the flor marlins have as many rings as these two overpaid teams have at payrolls of 30 million. now thats something to root for.

I agree. I do not think it is right that KC, Pittsburgh etc have much less of a shot to win because of the payroll difference. I totally agree and have said so a million times. I still enjoy this rivalry though and again what a great game last night! WOW. Baseball has leadership problems that have gone on for years and the salary issue is one of them. I agree lap.....Salary cap has worked well in Football and NBA. Why not baseball!

Here's a clue ...

When was the last RED SOX division title?

This movie was named Best Picture that year.

The last Division Title the Sox won prior to the one mentioned above...was the same year this event took place.:ughhh:

They have the luxury tax in place and revenue sharing. It's not fair that some people in America are poor and some are rich, but they each got to their respective positions through their own doings. If you want a better team and bigger payroll, then win some games, make more money, and don't be afraid to spend it. The marlins won their WS, then completely cleaned house of all their players. How can a fan support that?

What I really find amusing is when Soxs fans complain about the Yanks $190M payroll when they have the second highest themselves at $143M.

This is a pretty interesting graphic. http://benfry.com/salaryper/

By that chart the Indians, Padres, and Diamondbacks are getting the biggest bang for their buck

...and the $143 million does NOT include the money paid to Japan for negotiating rights for Dice-K...which was in the ball park of another $55 million.
