<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=484 bgColor=#eaeaef border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=log>Dannenmann v. Matusow: Aces v. Kings</TD></TR><TR><TD class=log vAlign=top>Log:</TD><TD class=log>Hand 2 - Mike Matusow has the button in seat 5, Dannenmann raises to $250,000 from under the gun, Lazar reraises to $1,250,000, and Matusow moves all in. The action is coming fast and furious here early, as these players are ready to gamble for first place.

The action is back on Dannenmann, who folds, but then Lazar quickly calls. Matusow shows pocket kings (Kc-Kh), and Lazar has pocket aces (Ah-Ad). Amazing. Matusow is gonna have to improve here.

The flop comes Kd-Qh-6h, and the crowd explodes in a cheer as Matusow makes a set to take a strong lead. Dannenmann needs to catch an ace or a runner-runner flush to stay alive.

The turn card is the 2h, giving Dannenmann a heart flush draw. Dannenmann can now win on any ace or any heart. The crowd oohs and aahs at the turn of events.

The river card is the Jh, and Dannenmann makes a runner-runner heart flush on the river to pull victory out of the grasp of Mike Matusow, who walks off the stage, wandering around with his hands on his head. He's still alive, but he would have been the chip leader at the final table.

and so what makes these guys so good...once again PURE LUCK previals...

It took TREMENDOUS skill to reach this final table.

Obviously there are going to be times where luck plays a factor.

The Mouth was lucky to catch on the flop, but unlucky to lose it from there. It is what makes poker games good. If not for the luck factor no one would play good players, it would be like chess where good players win every single time.

my point is simple...you can have all the knowledge of the game and still get worked as these guys did...in the end luck...beit good or bad will determine the outcome...yes skill and knowledge will get you further along...but hold'em is not like other poker games...community cards presents an entirely different set of options for the gambler...point being...play 7 stud..you see far more cards than hold'em and therefore have a much greater chance at wininng...or folding...given player knowledge of the game is equal...the lack of exposure of cards in hold'em is what kills knowledge and you need GOOD LUCK TO withstand and come out on top...

Damn it is wierd how the great players get "lucky" way more often than the poor players. You guys make me laugh with this "it is all luck" nonsense.

AA vs KK...and people insulted Tilt for its constant use of pocket pair vs. pocket pair.

So you would have NOT played the 7-3 and not won.

I guess you will continue to be UNlucky at hold'em then and will never get lucky.

Dave Matthews stated it an earlier post in this thread............

"Poker is a game of insane skill at it's highest level".

"Toward the end of the round, Dannenmann, a 38-year-old accountant and mortgage banker from Severn, Md., said he just wanted to finish the match.

"I got tired," he said. "I was bored of it. I was trying to make moves."

what a bullshit answer.
