my bachelor's got me into a doctorate program, to which i anticipate becoming successful. guess it wasn't all for not, after all. some degrees are wastes though.

And I bet said "wasted" degrees can be had with a doctorate attached as well...

And to people saying business degrees aren't smart - most business schools have great programs and recruiting events set up to ensure you have a job. Almost everyone in all my classes senior year had a job lined up a semester before graduation. Pretty much the opposite of most other majors

most have went to a bad one, I don't know a single person that was matches with a job.... You go to maryland? I'm honestly surprised. I've met more business majors with shitty jobs than any other major.

Went to MD - got a degree - got a good paying job at a top tier accounting firm. Most other people in the business school had jobs locked up way before me all making good money. Employers lined up everyday for interviews and to show off their firms

I graduated 2009 and this def wasn't the case. Probably bad example though considering the economy at the time

Thats 100% true - all the business school professors say how tough it was finding jobs 2-3 years before i graduated (2012). Things have really been turning around for most business schools

absolutely not, it's all in the averages

having said that, I know scores of people who have succeeded without degrees

yea it's a shame. I haven't fully recovered and never will. Same with nearly all of my classmates that I know.

When you begin your career in jobs you are overqualified for with low pay that sticks with you forever unfortunately.

I've had to make the best of it though. Instead of trying to fight up corporate ladder from an already disadvantage spot, I got with a young startup and it's been a blast.

I think that sometimes people with any degree are paid more for their demonstrated ability to learn. Companies may pay more for people who have shown they are willing to, and have the ability to learn.

Spanish/Communication major. Out of state tuition for Arizona. Tucson was a cheap place to live. It all made sense to take that risk for a BA.

Best decision I ever made. Own a bilingual call center and have used all of the skills learned from college.

Finally, it really depends on what you study. 4 years of fuck around time can come back to bite you.(still, there is a fine argument regarding college pussy and that specific experience) What amazes me is when I speak to people that studied, got a degree and have not touched nor spoken of the subject in over 20 years...Plus, that same schmuck still forgets my hashbrowns when serving my Desyauno Delux at McDonalds.

College attracts smart and talented people.

Which is why people with degrees make more money then those that don't.

But the college itself unless its in something like law or medical is not what makes people rich.

The reason why people in general who graduate college make more money is because talented people who are smart for the most part go to college.

Its kind of like the studies that say people who watch 8 hours of tv a day are fatter then the people who watch less then 8 hours of tv a day.

Its not the TV itself that makes people fat.
Its the fact that sitting on your ass watching tv is appealing to people who don't give a shit about themselves.

So for all you smart people not in the medical field or in law that makes a lot of money with a degree please do yourself a favor and give yourself the credit that you deserve.

You got to where you are more due to your smarts and savvy then you did because of a piece of paper you have hanging on your wall.
