250 for 10 is still an ok lift but i used to do more, have lifted for around 20 years.. since ive been in the convenience store business my weight has shot up to around 237 lbs, and its not close to being all muscle, im down from 245 and hopefully on my way to 217.. at 217, i can still look pretty massive but not be too fat. strength level is the same at that weight, whats the heaviest that you have gotten up to Jman?

Found this, wanted to share:

"...Ken Jennings has an unfair advantage. Everyone who writes about his "amazing" tenure on Jeopardy mentions that he looks so comfortable and confident. OF COURSE his opponents fail.
Advantage 1. No jitters caused by being on stage, in front of audience, first-timer nerves, lights and hoopla.
Advantage 2. No problems with buzzer -- he has to have that sucker timed to a split second. Notice how many times his opponents are vainly pressing and pressing their buzzers. They have the answers but his timing has been honed over 33 days.
Advantage 3. Home court. No one can deny that the sucker feels completely at home up there and with Alex.

This could become the next "Quiz Show" scandal. In an effort to up their ratings, the producers of Jeopardy have given him enormous and enormously unfair advantages over any opponent. They aren't giving him the answers, but what's the difference?

The man has knowledge, no one can take that away from him, but he's no genius, as some have theorized. He's just so at home up there that the playing field is anything but level.

There's a reason winners were limited to five appearances..."

He has apparently trained himself to see, when the "answer" is revealed on the board, the entire screen as a "screenshot", and pick out the key words instantly so that he knows when to buzz, while the other players are waiting for Alex to finish the answer while reading it one word at a time.

One other Jeopardy player who impressed me probably more than KJ was a blind guy who won a bunch of games a few years ago.

LOL!

"The man has knowledge, no one can take that away from him, but he's no genius, as some have theorized. He's just so at home up there that the playing field is anything but level."

So, by your logic, all sports home games are fixed. After all, since one team has home court advantage, that's more or less cheating.

Let me clue you all in on something: "Jeopardy" is a King World production. King World has five of the top ten syndicated programs on television. This is a HUGE, billion-dollar business. If "Jeopardy" was fingered to have fixed a quiz show, it would be taken off the air immediately, as would any King World game, including "Wheel of Fortune."

It makes no economic sense whatsoever to fix a game to boost ratings for a couple of months at the risk of your entire enterprise, which has been going on for decades and will probably make billions of dollars more in the future. That's so stupid that I'm amazed people even bring it up.

Oh, and ever sinve the Van Doren scandal, rigging a quiz show is also a federal offense.

Why can't people just enjoy this for what it is: a really smart guy profiting from his brain instead of some stupid thug jock making millions for getting a ball through a hoop?

Are people so threatened by this guy's intelligence that they have to libel him?

Oh, and the general argument that he's been there so long that he has the advantage is silly. "Jeopardy" tapes five times a day, which means Ken has to deal with ten fresh opponents in a single taping. By #7 or #8, mental fatigue has to start setting in. IMO, that balances any advantage he's thought to have by knowing the buzzer.

And while he certainly does have a handle on how the timing works, he still has to have the right response.

If what Ken does is so pedestrian, why aren't you geniuses auditioning for the show right now?

quote:
3 minutes into the show the guy has 4,300 already!!!!

is from feeling comfortable and knowing the buzzer. its called an "advantage" i dont stand by saying that it is fixed. but he has a few advantages. the opponents may be fresh, but they havent had the worlds of practice and time to be alex's best friend and be on a first name basis with evryone including the camera boys and the damn janitor. . . that timing on that buzzer is so key it isnt even funny, he's up by so much that final jeopardy usually doesnt matter

Rob,

I'm sure his comfort level is a big advantage, but he had to start the game on day one just like everyone else. Winning this long earns you some benefits on the game floor. No different from a veteran prizefighter taking on a rookie. It may not be fair, but it's just how life is.
