Cops stopped a woman from getting on the subway in Brooklyn Wednesday for improperly wearing a facemask — sparking a scuffle and her arrest, they said.
The tense encounter, part of which was recorded by a witness, unfolded about 11:50 a.m. inside the Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center subway station when police told Kaleemah Rozier that her nose and face must be covered, police said.
Police said Rozier, who was with a young child at the time, refused to correctly wear the covering and cursed at them.
In the video, Rozier, with her mask down across her neck, can be seen arguing with officers on a subway staircase — prompting the police to kick her out of the station.
Seconds later, after Rozier and the cops escorting her out ascend the stairs, she can be heard on camera saying, “don’t touch me, do not touch me.”
As a cop tries to grab Rozier, she slaps his hand away, prompting three officers to grab a hold of her, the video shows.
“C’mon, she got a kid with her,” a witness could be heard saying on video, “she got a baby with her — that’s too much, man”
Officers then force the woman to the ground and handcuff her, the video shows.
Police said Rozier was busted for striking the officer, not for refusing to properly wear her facemask.
“This individual was arrested only after her behavior toward officers warranted police action,” said NYPD spokesperson, Sergeant Jessica McRorie.
Rozier was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment and given a desk appearance ticket, police said.
