Mount Charleston is a great change of pace from the desert. Green stuff, water, numerous trails, beautiful scenery and only a short drive from the most exciting and glamorous city the world has ever known.
Also, everything that has been said about Red Rock Canyon only double.

It'll still be there the next time you go back. It can get pricey pretty quick, but it's worth doing at least once.
