I have to buy a new printer and decided to try a wireless home network.

Looked at Motorola, Linksys, NetGear, etc.
Darn confusing.

Cable ISP

Two laptops - 4 years old
Two PCs - One 3 and one 5 years
(All use XP)

One scanner
One new printer
Three story house with the main computer room in the basement.

Maximum distance about 75 feet.

Any suggestions aprreciated.

I don't think there is much difference between brands, but Linksys seems to be the market leader.

I have the linksys router and it is very easy to set up and if your computer all have xp then once u load the program onto your computer then u can go to their website and set up the rest of the computers automatically. But with a three story house and the main computer in the basement you may have to get a router with a rangebooster.

I am very illeterate with this thing and Linksey's seemed to be the leader. Bought the rangebooster and called Links'y and they ran me through the steps in 10 minutes and it was done.

If you have a best buy near by I would go there and tell them your set up they will give the best router for your situation.

I have that router in a 2 story town home and I am always within 20 feet but it does not give good signals thru the floors.
