In hindsight I thought I'd keep it simple, earlier bets proved fruitless as the prices disappeared. I'll throw a Grand at this in the belief it only happens every 4 years.

Ukraine Outright £50 @ 80 (betfair)
Shevchenko Top Scorer £40 @ 28(betfair)
Argentina to Qualify Group C LAY £300 @ 1.37(betfair)

Germany-Costa 1-1 £10 @ 12.5 (betfair)
Poland-Ecudor Poland £100 @ 2.12(betfair)

I'm always wary getting off to a losing start in any Tournament, it just seems there's never enough time to right the Ship, however on to Tomorrow.

I'm not getting involved in T&T as its not a Cricket Match and the Odds on the England Game dont seem to offer any value, although it does kick off the Wobbler Bet. My assessment of the Argie-Ivory Odds make The Crybabies way too short, the only glitch is my prices for Brazil-Croatia is also out, so maybe I'm underrating the South American Form, I certainly did with Ecudor. Laying The Bargies to qualify gives me some room if I'm wrong and with The Ivory Coast well capable of scoring, 1-0 is not out of the question and looks over priced.

Argentina-Ivory Coast 0-1 £10 @ 17 (Betfair) :toast:

Angola-Portugal Another 0-0 Bet here £5 @14 (betfair)

Angola's biggest danger is probably the threat of Ebola, no not a Striker, the Disease. I dont expect many Portuguese players going forward. Look out for Poison darts from the sideline. :drink:

they actually offered an 80/1 price for Angola to win? That's about an 8 fold the fair odds...

I'm quiet happy that apart from the poland bet I've stuck to small value correct scores. Its normally very easy for me after having a few drinks to just plonk on in these type events. As Jack Dee says in his thread, there's a lot of luck involved in the first games so small stakes should be the order of the Day.

The common demominator in Todays Games seems to be Three average Attacks against strong Defences (Ok Ausralia might be a reach) While you never know which Pasta Bashers Team turns up on Attack, their D usually does the business, the same could be said of The Czechs. The Japs appear to be wanting up front so I would think The Aussies will feel confident in holding them goalless.

Of course betting any of these three is asking for trouble at the odds so a bet that the others finish scoreless gives you a fighting chance for small stakes at about 10/1
£20 Treble(3 team parlay) @ Paddy Power
Japan not to score 8/5
USA not to score 13/10
Ghana not to score 10/11

Better odds can be had on Betfair but you will have to bet them one at a time. Best of Luck :toast:

Beaten yesterday by a blind Eyptian Ref, hard to believe it can happen at this level.

I havent a clue about the South Korea game and the France Match is the next leg of the Wobbler bet, so on to Brazil.

Over the years a myth has grown that The Brazilians are happy go lucky, not a care in the World, no need for tactics outfit. All the glitz and advertising has reinforced that thinking but the reality is that in this age unless the Players and Coaches took the Tactics, hard groundwork and training seriously, they would be lost. One thing all the winning has done is give them supreme confidence and if there's a chink in the armour its in the group stages where elimination appears impossible.

Although injuries could have been kinder,Two things in Croatias favour are the huge support they will have and a solid defence. Its always arguable the relative strengths of the opposition when qualifying but Croatia has 12 clean sheets in the last 20 worthwhile games so scoring on them is no easy feat. Croatia will fancy their chances against the Aussies and Japs so playing for a point seems reasonable, however with Brazils ageing defence and penchant to go forward The Croatians could nick a goal.

As I said earlier, all the mugs are on Brazil without any consideration and although they have their winners, mostly its a 90 minute heartache for them. The tough decision is what to bet, Asian betting is probably the smartest move but to me if you take a view like this, you have to go for the bigger prices as you could be totally wrong.

Croatia to win £20 ( 11/1 most places)
Croatia 1-0 £10 ( 26/1 most places 29/1 Betfair)
Croatia HT/FT £10 (16/1 most places 25/1 betfair)

win or lose, it was a solid pick, at no point did the brazilians demonstrate their supiriority, and hadn't be for kaka and the croat goalie being a (for what?) few feet out of his position, this could have gone the other way much easily than the odds indicated.

I'm not posting to say I won money today or say I'm up on the Tourny, its just I want to make a point of My figures could be big pluses or big Minuses depending on which fucking joker Ref you get. Although my bets have been small its still irritating that I have not only to beat Luck (as in late Goals), but downright poor decisions. My rant will continue in the Main Forum. :drink:
