I have followed the olympics since Rome and know that the rest of the world (T & F is huge in Europe and other continents) is registering Bolt's combined 100 and 200 WR as being among the most impressive pure universal athletic (Boxing, Running Weightlifting) registered in decades. Bolt v Phelps will be another fast thread but as a both a runner and a swimmer, my cereal box and SI cover would picture Bolt.

It took a great start, great run on the turn and a great finish. Bolt did 'em all but it was certainly no gimme. He had to be virtually perfect in all 3 phases and he was. Congratulations to him. With all due respect to Phelps and the other swimming record breakers, it's a lot tougher to break a world record in track & field.
