On last Saturday night, Eller and linemates Erik Cole and Alex Galchenyuk each scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Canadiens to a 3-0 win over the slumping New York Rangers.

The game was particularly costly to the Rangers, who have lost three straight (0-2-1) without injured star forward Rick Nash in the lineup.New York was also missing forwards Darroll Powe and Arron Asham, and defenseman Michael Del Zotto. The Rangers then lost their top defensive pair - Dan Girardi and Ryan McDonagh - during the loss to the Canadiens.:ohno:

As far as i'm concernd, if Dan Girardi and Ryan McDonagh were out long term, NY Rangers wouldn't make the playoffs.##)

They are not the same team as last year. Not as tough, not willing to sacrifice to block shots like last year. They are outworked in the corners and late fighting for loose pucks. Maybe Torts' act is wearing thin?

All that being said they sit one point out of the playoffs with a game in hand. There is no doubt they should make the playoffs with the talent they have, (providing they stay healthy), but with this short season it's even more of a crap shot than year's past.

Will Ottawa stay in a playoff spot with all their injuries? Will the Southeast Division have two teams make the post season? Toronto, Montreal are presently in playoff position. Toronto was in playoff position last year at this pro-rated part of the year. We all know where they ended up. Is Philadelphia, (who is presently sitting on the outside), a better team than the Rangers and will THEY make the playoffs?

One thing is for sure. If Nash's concussion symptoms don't subside there should be serious concern for this team.

Lots of questions and and all this will only help to make the last 2/3rds of the regular season a wild one.

I hope all those eastern Canadian teams hold their PO positions. The Playoffs are more interesting when the whole country is involved.

As for the leafs remember them tanking last year but do think that had more to do with the coaching changing than anything? Carlise system being different than old whats his name and the young leafs had a tough time adapting. This year so far they are clearly playing Randy's system and doing it well, It would be great if T.dot makes the PO's

any team that suffers lots of injuries will have a tough time making it into the payoffs. Especially this shortened season. The parity in the NHL is amazing.
