i think i would also add don james to the list, long time Washington coach. He was a good coach and I think another was Bobby Bowden, deserving of a coaches hall of fame imo. Another great coach was tom osbourne and even Joe Pa whether u like him or not or psu for all that matters. All that i mentioned were great coaches and great motivators, may not have won the most championships but were great ambassadors of the game in their own way. Some like lou holtz could make you think you could run through a wall and some like woody, bo, and bear would push you through it... physically.
When I think of great coaches today worthy of being in this category the only one I think of is Saban. I think he is in a class all by himself in many ways among todays coaches. Dantonio at MSU could be a great one before its all said and done if you look at his whole body of work. Where the program was and where it is and how they continue to build on it. If Kelly was still at Oregon I would put him in there even though I dont like him. He has changed the game more than any of todays current coaches, not only with X and O's but how he approached the physical part of the game through training and nutrition, many now follow the blue print he created, I dont think he gets the credit he deserves, and i dont like him... think he has short man syndrome..
