Why the "LEFT" can NOT rejoice in LIBERATION

Most all Iraqis are...
80% of Americans are...

I say it's strictly politics, for it might make Bush "look good"... They would have rather had 'Operation Iraqi Freedom' fail.

i dont think they would want failure, but im sure they are disappointed that there werent more problems.

well, i guess i should say that i sure hope no one was hoping for failure.

(AP)In a main square of the capital, a crowd of Iraqis and U.S. Marines pulled down a 40-foot statue of Saddam, breaking it in half on the way down. Hundreds of people swarmed over the hollow metal torso, tearing it to pieces and dragging the head down the street. Before bringing it down, the Marines briefly covered the statue's face with an American flag, then replaced it with the red-black-and-white Iraqi flag.

"I'm 49, but I never lived a single day. Only now will I start living," said Yussuf Abed Kazim, a mosque preacher, as he bashed the statue's pedestal with a sledgehammer, knocking off tile and concrete. "That Saddam Hussein is a murderer and a criminal."

Meaning more deaths to Allied Forces & Iraqis

*Some* would rather have more deaths JUST TO MAKE BUSH LOOK BAD.

"Meaning more deaths to Allied Forces & Iraqis"

Ok Frank,

One more time.
Winning is not the issue, who expected us to lose? Iraq stood no chance from the very beginning. I believe that for just about everyone that was opposed, winning does nothing to change how we feel about Bush or about him starting the war. It's illogical to expect people to rejoice in winning a fight they never wanted to happen.
What we can rejoice in is that it seems to be over.

>happen.

Read the Title of this thread... You can't be happy about LIBERATION.

I'm not disappointed that there weren't more "problems" or complications.

I would never wish the U.S. to lose a war nor would I wish death on U.S. soldiers.

Since Bush got his way and started this mess, I've only wished it end quickly.

>winning does nothing to change how we feel about Bush

Just my point! No matter how correct Bush is/was the "left" wont rejoice in LIBERATION.

Frank,

Sometimes I wonder if you're the scare crow from the Wizard of Oz.

Does the bully on the playground become right when he wins the fight?

Personally I've had problems with Bush since he was Governor of Texas, this war is just one more reason do dislike him. Civilians are dead, U.S. soldiers are dead, coalition soldiers are dead, Iraqi soldiers are dead. Iraqis think they are free, but considering that what Bush wants is the oil what the Iraq has become is property of the U.S. government.

I repeat the thing to rejoice in is that it appears to be over.

Kaya,
The Iraqis are screaming come in Yankee!!!

Bush was right to get this done now.

The left was wrong on the predictions of doom and gloom. ie we'd lose 1000's of US soldiers taking Baghdad.

Of course I'm happy for the people of Iraq that feel they have been given freedom. At the same time I can't help but wonder how much of the whole picture we get. You can be sure any Iraqis celebrating the victory will get exposure but would negativity get the same coverage.

Kaya,
If you believe this was done for the oil then you're just out of touch with reality.

outandup,

Wow, I'm shocked you've managed to say "gloom and doom" yet again.

Who said anything about thousands of U.S. soldiers dying to take Iraq? I never expected this to be a difficult fight. The "doom and gloom" is fear of increased threat of terrorism.

Kaya Man - You are 100% correct about wondering if we are getting the whole story. After watching NBC news, CBS news, CNN for years I used to wonder the same thing. Now that Fox News came along I know that all of the other stations were only telling us what we want to hear.

I like Fox news because it gives both sides of the story. However, if you don;t agree, you can always watch both CNN anf Fox News. CNN will show you how much went wrong with the war and Fox News will show you how much went correct.

Last word on this: If you cannot be happy for the Iraqi people then you might need to re-think your "politics."

Most all Iraqis are...

Most?

No. Let's not exaggerate. There is no way there are 26 million Iraqis in the streets rejoicing their "liberation".

I would be happy if the US was there for liberation purposes.

But that is no more than a side issue.
You are there to secure resources.

Some US personnel are so confused they have been sticking US flags up at victory points, only to have them pulled down again under orders from their superiors.

Its actually really interesting, an occupation force trying to be a liberator in a foreign land.

Good luck usa.
