Why do people say shit they don't mean?

I'm sitting in my apartment this afternoon, with a freshly rolled blunt in hand, ready to kick back and smoke away my stressful week. Door opens, homedude from down the hall walks in. I have known this kid for some while now and I don't want to say he is a mooch, but at times at seems as if he is.

Just as I am about to spark it "yooooo dawg, let me throw you some cash for this session..." I reply with an "alright, thats straight" type of comment. Part of me knows that he is just going to sit in on the session and not ever make the payment, but I am too tired to so no, and too nice of a guy.

Money isn't the thing, and that isn't why I am posting. My position on the matter is that I don't mind blazing someone out, the more the merrier, but, I would appreciate a return session in the future at some point. It is a social type drug that I believe should be enjoyed by many if possible.

So, as the session ends and he gets up to walk away, he responds by saying "I guess I was just in the right place at the right time...."

I don't want to sound like a bitch, just wanted to know what you guys are thinkin. I just want a fair session in return, can be tommorrow, next week or next month, just want to know that I will be repaid and my generosity was greatly appreciated. At this point in time, looks like it wont happen...

mooches are fuckin dickheads. dude is clearly too lazy to get his own weed or roll his own shit, but will glady take and take. all it takes is one comment being like "u actually gonna get me back this time or just say you are, like usual" to plant the seed and either make him stop bein a fuckface or actually get you back. might fuck up the friendship a bit but how good a friend is he in the first place if this bitch hasn't ever gotten u back anyway?
