Bonds was better in the field than Griffey? Wow. Griffey is perhaps the finest defensive outfield in the history of the game. Take into consideration all the ground he covered and balls he ran down that Bonds would never have gotten to. Griffey played the far superior position. Tracked balls down because of his speed. No way.

Superior base runner? Ok Chop.

First off I never said Bonds was a better defensive player then Griffey.

I said the opposite.

2ndly Bonds was much faster then Griffey so your argument that Griffey was better at D because superior speed is laughable .

Simply not true.

And Griffey was not one of the top 10 defensive outfielders of all time.

Why shouldn't Barry Bonds' records be taken away, like Lance Armstrong's were? I mean Lance juiced in an era when everyone else was?

Give the home run record back to it's rightful owner: Hank Aaron.

Give Roger Maris back his record too.

I say we should vacate everything that happened from the 90s and first half of 2000s.

yeah the OBP #s are staggering. Bonds around 45% a year in his pre-roids prime. Griffey broke 40% maybe once.

Griffey was hitting 50-55 HRs a year then and that is what made him the consensus best player at the time.

Bonds 514 stolen bases
Griffey 184 career stolen bases.

MLB drug policy at the turn of the century was far different than the drug policy in professional cycling. Let each sport decide for themselves if they want to fight their own War on Drugs. For most of Bonds' career, no one among management, players, media, or fans wanted drug testing or penalties for drug use. So there wasn't any.

You aren't factoring in anything drug related which has to be done in this debate.

Barry Bonds was much more fun to watch withroids then without as a fan.

But you can make the case that he may have been an even better player before that.

Yeah ok. I bet you have Andruw Jones ahead of Griffey right?

Absolutely AJ was a much better defensive player then Griff.

If you can find one reputable person who says otherwise I will ban myself for life from this forum.

Are you trying to suggest that saying AJ>KG defensively is a ridiculous comment?

Is that what you are trying to say?

That's about as dumb as naming a children's hospital after Jerry Sandusky.

You may be the only person on Earth who thinks Griff was >AJ defensively .

I don't even think Ken Griffy Sr would agree with you. Lol

Why wouldn't we know where he stood without drugs? Unless people think he was using in the mid 90s as well and it just wasn't as obvious.

And who's to say Griffey did not?
Its a weak argument all the way around
