Was this just a flash in the pan game or should I pick this guy up for my fantasy team? My receivers are Moss, Driver, Conway, Porter, Rogers, Reed... 4 start a week, keeper league.
hey D. He is an FSU guy. Really had a nice college career. Rix was up and down as we now, but he still had great numbers. He's good size and very strong. He slipped in the draft do to his 40 time. he ran like a 4.6. If he ran faster he was a 1rst rd pick, but the scouts say he has great game speed. He may be one of those guys who is too slow the scouts say and really ends up great, like Zach thomas type guy
Personally I have noi interest in picking him up for a couple reasons:
1. He's the #3 guy on ARI right now...maybe he can be like a Jerry Porter, but most #3s are worthless for fantasy
2. He's on Arizona. Gets to catch Jeff Blake passes all the time on a very weak team. Not an ideal receiving situation.
3. Will probably not duplicate last weeks effort again this season. Let's remember he was facing the Detroit secondary, #30 in the NFL last year. Also now has a target on his back because of this performance, so D backs will be keeping an eye on him.
First of all...what is your league's rules for free-agent pickups? I can't believe someone wouldn't have already snagged him. My league does a Monday night lottery with pointspread winner/total points to claim free agents.
If your league allows you put Driver on DL and pick up Boldin, there's nothing to lose to look at him a few more weeks. If not, Conway would be the one to cut.
Thanks for all the input guys.. Somebody already did snag him. The lowest ranked teams get first dibs at free agents.
There's no way I was dumping Driver in a keeper league where you can protect 3 wr's at the end of each year. Conway would have been the drop, but I kind of like his hot dogging when he actually does something.
first of all he is now listed as the #2 man in arz. and blake does suck. I should know i had to watch him every sunday last year. even when he hugged bill coward after he threw a game ending interception. but that's a different subject. but back to boldin....in a keeper league where you have conway i would drop him in a second and pick boldin up for the years to come. i drafted him in my 33 man keeper league with the 5th pick. good luck
Anquan Boldin was perhaps the best athlete at FSU for the last two years. He could have been a star at QB, as he was a high school All-American, but he was needed more at WR. He has great hands and knows what to do with the ball when he catches it. Even though he's a little slower than ideal, he'll be a star in this league.
he has a big physical body needed for the inside slant reciever. i think flat out speed is needed for the outside deep recievers, but the inside going in the middle reciever speed is overated. bolden droped down the draft because of his 40 time.
