To me after watching all of these shows about Jesus that we were bombarded with over the last couple of months (give or take 2000 years), I came to the conclusion that had the internet and 24 hour cable news been around back then there would be no way someone could claim that he was the "son of god" and actually be believed.

In todays world who do you think could have started a religion and actually have had it succeed?...(besides L Ron Hubbard)

David Blaine for sure. He's freaky.

Back in Jesus times, I suspect there was a little bit of opium being passed around. After all, someone seriously believes that 5 fish and 5 loaves of bread fed 5000 people and that Moses was a human floatation device.

David Koresh was simply born 2000 years too late.

Jesus walked on the water, Moses parted it. It says so in the Bible ,so you know its true.

Good Koresh point. I like how whenever someone comes on and says "i am god" or something like that ,they are so easily dismissed nowadays. Ironic actually.

hmmm.....

The story about the loaves and fishes is far less fantastic if you interpret it within the system of Christian ethics that Jesus Christ introduced.

5000 people come to hear Jesus speak.....
There's not enough food to feed them .....
Jesus asks a few people to share what little food they have with the crowd....
People see the generosity of a few and suddenly more people come forward and share the food they have.....
With enough people sharing with their neighbour and being generous, suddenly there is more than enough food - and the leftovers fill 5 baskets....

You can ridicule it if you want, but I happen to think that it is a beautiful story and a nice demonstration of what Christianity is about....

Don't take the Bible as *literal* truth, but rather as a series of lessons, parables, and stories full of symbolism (and perhaps Divine inspiration) and maybe you'll find yourself respecting Christianity more than you do now
