I never did it before this year, thought is was silly but its actually prety fun.Mag I used to be into Fantasy Sports big time
And I know a lot of ppl will scoff at this but when me and my friends were kids, we were years, maybe even decades, ahead of the game,.when we would all pick 1-2 games nightly, put money in a pot, draw names for draft position, and pick players
But many years ago I lost interest in the new age of fantasy
I don't mean this as any offense to anyone, but i liken Fantasy Sports to being the Little League' of sports betting
Although I know many do both
Looking forward to your master thread though as I might regain interest ?
No Fanduel as wellDo you just use Fantasy Underdog?
You mean with Draftkings? All these companies don't match up, but I did use what I could from your list.
I've been playing for thirty years before there was a FF magazine and well before webplay and the sites that cater to FF. A friend of ours brought the game back here to Boston from Vegas with the simplest rules - 6 pts for a TD; 1 pt per reception; 10 points for a RB or WR reaching 100 yds; 3 points for a fg; QBs 1 point for every 40 yds thrown.
It took us a few years to craft our own more sophisticated scoring rules which amazingly the whole FF world has pretty much followed. We give QBs a few more points than most leagues. And we give the Defense / Special team combo more points as well the thought being that D / ST can greatly affect the outcome of any game. Much more than ay one player. We also give a point to RBs for each 4 carries as there can be backs who carry the ball up and down the field but give the scoring away to another back.
WE had in person drafts until COVID. Now Zoom has become the norm. Of course it's a snake draft with the order of the first two rounds determined by a formula we devised predicated on the previous season's success or failure. THe commissioner gets together with another player in the summer and does a random draft lottery for each two rounds (snake) for the remaining draft.
Scoring used to be done by hand by our Commussioner. We even had a newsletter that went out weekly. But since we went online we make the "pool winner" (highest scorer each week gets $50.00 bucks) write up predictions for the following week.
Our add/drop system is first come first served. This promotes an active league where paying attention and being active gets rewarded.
We have no playoffs, just play things out week to week until the regular season has ended.
Cost of entry has been the same for years - $250.00. Add drops are $3.00 each. There are twelve teams; three Divisions; and we pay out first and second in each Division. Parity keeps interest up. The format is head to head with a schedule that allows for 3 games each within your Division and one with everyone else.
Think thst's it.
I love it and have for all these years. So do the other guys. We have very few dropouts season to season. Most seasons nobody leaves. Good for continuity and ribbing as we know each other pretty well.
