Hopefully in the next few years, a marketing wiz will revive the idea. But the NFL will have to be a partner this time. It makes sense - football's the most popular sport in America - heck even the XFL averaged over 25,000 people in the stands each game. If its done right, people simply love football and will support it. Why should the NFL execs travel overseas for NFL Europe to scout talent when they could travel to Chicago, LA, San Fran, etc. The NFL could allocate developmental squad players to each team to fill the rosters. I actually heard that Turner Broadcasting had shown some interest in a venture like this. FYI: If UPN hadn't pulled a wrestling "powerplay" on McMahon, the XFL might still be around. NBC was out for year two, but TNN loved it and UPN got greedy. That was too much for Vince to take and he bailed.
