IMHO, so far these three teams have done the best on day 1:

1. Vikings- Willamson,James,Fox- very solid and filled needs, this team will have a chance to go all the way next year as only 2 negatives now are kicking game and HC Tice.

2. Arizona- Rolle,Blackwell,Arrington,-Rams and Seahawks better beware and in fact so should rest of NFC

3. Dallas-Spears,Ware,-Parcells gets needed depth to switch to 3-4

Worst:

1. Bears-Benson and Bradley....Should have taken Mike Williams and Bradley was a major reach

2. Packers-Rodgers.....Defense was a disaster and did nothing to address needs in first 2 rounds. This draft is for after this year. Favre probably questioning coming back now.

3. Seattle- Spencer...Receivers can't catch and have yet to take one. Greene in third round major reach as well. Little help in secondary which was major weakness vs Rams and Arizona loading up on offense. Seattle will finish 3rd in division next year.

What are your opinions of best and worst?

Although the Packers pick of Rodgers didn't address this year's

needs, it was nonetheless one of the greatest opportunities
in recent memory; a player who was a legitimate no. 1 went
with the 24th pick and will surely replace Favre next year
after one year's tutoring.

Best: Cowboys
I hate the Cowboys but they used all 3 of their picks today very wisely. They got 3 studs in Burnett, Ware, and Spears. Just an awesome 1st day.

Worst: Eagles
With so many picks I thought they would do better, but they just reached for 3 guys and I didn't see any real value picks.

I also think Rodgers is going to suck so Green Bay did not exactly do something smart there.

rogers went 24th just cuz he has the qb tag.he is beyond over rated and if leinart would of came out this year rogers woulda been a 2nd round pick.his lucky year i guess.i think teams did what they felt they had to do.if your thinking bad as of this very moment what about denver trading away there highest pick for nothing now and on top of that wasting a 3rd round pick on maurice clarett.would of been an acceptable challenge if there wasnt still a board full of decent backs left.

you know what would be fun to see even thought it wont happen.mike williams, roy williams, charles rogers and one more receiver down in detroit going to the run n shoot.this has to be the best receiving core thats hit the nfl in awhile.

Cowboys the best, Minny did well also

But Dallas did even better in Day 2.....Canty and Barber at RB nice additions

I think Detroit should trade Rogers the WR they took a couple years ago. They have done nothing for their defense Detroit as always the laughing stock of the NFL for 39 years.

The Redskins are also going no where......Gibbs is outdated, and he is not understanding that you either win in three years or ba bye!!!

How much of an impact does the draft have?

Does the draft really matter for this coming year? How many drafted players make the starting team immediately? Even the teams with the good drafts-I doubt if it will have any real effect on the team's performance this year.

Minnesota picked up a deep threat receiver to replace

Moss and then addressed other needs - "A" draft.

Without a doubt the Vikes have made the most improvement over any team but still need to play the game on the field but we shall see!!!

no , not at all. Greene was a bigtime winner at Georgia- the only concern here is S'Hawks still have Dilfer and Seneca behind Hassleback- could see a trade involving this situation before September. When everything shakes out 3 to 4 years from now, Greene COULD be the star QB from this draft

....it happens every year, everyone wants to analyze the draft the next day, I like to wait and see after a year or two, then another evaluation sometime afterwards. Nobody really knows , and now that the draft has been condensed to 7 rounds, there is that undrafted freeagent market that seems to becoming a factor over recent years ....
When the Chargers made some blunders with smaller college risks in the late 90s, alot of talking heads and "experts" afterwards have made it a point to criticize decisions to go after players who are not from major or midmajor colleges. Are you kidding? Do you realize how many stars and pro-bowlers and halloffamers have come from small schools over the course of time? One strategy I would adhere to is expand your scouting to the bush leagues (a lot of teams will look at smaller colleges in their own regions to get a feel)- one out of your 7 picks should be someone from the SunBeltConference or smaller (div 1-aa, div II, etc). One player I like that no one talked about is Redskins 7th rounder Nehemiah Broughton from the Citadel. Jerome Mathis from Hampton was a steal for Houston in the 4th round. But everybody passed because of the school on his resume....

Absolutely. The Chargers had two rookies starting on their vastly improved offensive line last year, a rookie kicker, and a rookie defensive end all as starters. Not one of which was their first round selection! They went from 4-12 to 11-5 in one season. They will have at least two and possibly three new starters from this year's draft.

A rookie free agent started at cornerback for the superbowl champion Patriots.

A rookie quarterback led Pittsburg to the AFC championship game.

Look for Arizona's fine crop of rookies lead them to a playoff spot this year. At least three of this year's draft picks will be starters for that team. Dallas is another team that will reap immediate dividends from this year's draft.

It doesn't always work out that way, but a good draft can fill immediate holes, and it doesn't necessarily have to be the first round pick.

indeed they really had an awewsome draft.only problem was those boneheads dumped moss and even though they had an A draft they have had a F off-season.

an F offseason????

You better check on that again because no team has improved their stock more than the Vikes in the offseason!!!

Moss can never be replaced but the improvements this team has made on Def,and some through the draft.....no way can this team get an F for what they have done in the offseason.

Hey RightWing,

I'm on your side again!

Getting rid of Moss gives the team and opportunity to "step up"
which I believe they will. Further, their draft and offseason
moves have been A+

anytime you let or get rid of that type of talent you get an automatic F.this team wont do squat next year in a very soft nfc.mike tice is avg at best and this team hasnt had direction since day 1.this isnt the first vikings team to grab some defensive names.bottom line no matter who goes there they wont stop no one as usual but lemme guess there going to outscore everyone replacing moss with travis taylor?oh wait let me guess you must be referring to troy williamson?..lol wtg viks

island boy you know i like ya alot but your off on this one. tell me who is better right now in that division?they are very improved and moss had to go. his act grew tired and changes were coming. as for aaron rodgers he was one of the most effective QBs in america and was every bit the QB leinhart was. then cal lost most thier recievers including macarther thier all american.he completed an ungodly amount of completions vs usc and nearly beat them. his lack of recievers hurt rodgers production drasticly and got blown out in the holiday bowl. i love his chances of success better than alex smiths right now. hes going to get his head kicked in every week in sf and he could be the next akili smith.no young 20 year old qb should ever be thrown to the wolves like that. when ever a young qb gets the job his 1st year he seldom succeeds. see akili smith, ryan leaf, couch, cade mcnown..the list is endless. how many days till football?

Like I said before Randy on offense is hard to replace etc but all I was saying is look at the free agents that Minny picked up and call that a "F" with losing Moss is just way off base!!!

Pat Williams,Fred Smoot,Darren Shaper, and a few others to mention! Offense won't be the same but a 26th ranked Def should move up into the top 10 and that is worth 10-6 from a 8-8 with Randy.

i got no doubt 8-8 will win this division.look at it.me you and 9 others could win this division.all im saying is they didnt do anything to help this team.they are not a defensive minded team at all and i dont care who was added even though good names were they dont have the philosophy to stop anyone.kc is loaded with defensive "names" and look what it gets them.they will still be at the bottom at seasons end in defense and will choke away another hot start.dont expect a running game in minnesota either becuz there is no reason not to load the box up.playoffs most likely but no way they get past the first round.
