It's OK. I only bet some baseball while waiting for FOOTBALL season to begin.

Tried to do bases daily this season, but had a tough time getting into it. Went on a dry spell & decided to hang it up.

Very boring game to me.

General - As the season progresses you have better stats to handicap with. It gets easier to predict the winners towards the end of the season. Just stay with over/unders and you WILL make money!

IB,

I don't know much about handicapping, but why do available stats matter. Everyone sees them including the linesmakers. At the end of the day regardless of the sport, isn't it always going to be your handicapping ability versus someone elses handicapping ability.

Not that I have much experience, but intuitively I would think that Cecil is right. The sports where the sqaure action has the most influence on the line, should be the easiest sport to beat.

marc - "The sports where the sqaure action has the most influence on the line, should be the easiest sport to beat."

That may be true...

BUT, there are soo many MLB games everyday, and alot of stats info for each game that I do not feel all linesmen thoughly handicapp each game played everyday as thoughly as a gambler that may be only handicapping 1 or 2 games per day.(or as thoughly as they handicapp football) I think the gambler has the edge as he can spend more time handicapping each game. And the fact that in baseball the entire game can change with ONE pitch and the crack of the bat.

Just my 2 cents...

Baseball is by far the best sport to bet. Just ask anyone making good money. Football is a better Tv sport however.

PURPLE PETE - I agree. Football has action with every play so it's a better TV sport and usually the commercials that acompany it flow with the action.
Baseball only has action when a batter gets a hit and that doesn't happen too often in some games.
Look at the Dodgers lately.

But there are more things that can happen during a baseball game than football.

"I fade, I play the obvious plays and they lose."

I really don't think there is a sport you can beat playing that way...

The square action does PAD the line a bit as cecil stated. But if you know how to watch for a streak to end or begin (not betting the obvious as per stats or streaks) you can make money.

What's your favorite teams to bet on, or do you usually bet on whoever is on a win/losing streak?

I bet baseball, and make pretty good money, but I prefer NFL. The only reason I would probably make less betting the NFL is because they only have 21 betting cards. Baseball has around 200, probably more. NFL is easier to cap IMO, and a big reason for that is square action that only look at the obvious.

Some say baseball is easier because it's ML and not spreads, or because there are more stats, but I disagree with both those points. I would rather lay around -105/-110 every bet on a spread, rather than have all these different ML numbers. Also, I never look at or even care about the stats in baseball. I don't know how others cap, but I can pretty much tell who I like in the game just from looking at the teams and the line. I really don't need much else to go on, and I'm sure that is the case for most cappers that have a good sports IQ. I'm not saying if you look at stats you don't, because that is just a different strategy, but I personally couldn't care less about what happened the last 5 times two certain teams played a certain park with a certain pitcher on the mound on a sunny day. Useless stats IMO.

Can't wait for football.
