I think they got it right.

Also while I'd like to see an 8 team playoff. There is still going to be second guessing and different opinions about who that 8 team is. Just like there is now with the 4th team. Nothing in reality will change.

Except each team that won a power 5 conference on the field would be playing.

This just strengthens the argument to move to an 8 team playoff. Power 5 winners get automatic bids, plus 3 at-large.

Those 8 teams get seeded by the committee.

Then you would have something like:

1 Bama
2 Clemson
3 OSU
4 Washington
5 Michigan
6 Oklahoma
7 USC
8 Penn St

No one is really left out in this scenario.
