hmm, well I would never say i was a body builder, i never had the discipline to eat right, nor did i want to take any kind of risky drugs or supplements..I did take creatine for one cycle about 4 years ago, and it actually did work, but my hands started getting numb all the time so I stopped taking it...I am pretty much just a weight lifter these days, I don`t bench heavy anymore , a shoulder injury has made that too risky...One time after my injury I had about 300 lbs on the bar and my shoulder went out, very painful and scary...At my peak i could do around 400, 405 officially, but I never really got into the bodybuilding side of it, I was a soccer player so i didn`t have a problem staying somewhat lean and cut...At 35 now, I`m still about the same as i`ve always been , I just don`t bench heavy....I had some unusual training habits back in the day, lol, I would actually Bench Press everyday! I know it was against all the rules but it worked for me, I would start each workout by benching 10 sets of 5 reps, with as heavy a weight as i could, then i would add 1/2 lbs each workout, this worked for me as i went from working out with 225x5 (weighing 185) in 1989 to 375x5 in 1999 (weighing 205), and I never really felt the weight get heavier just adding 1/2 lb. I use to watch the Rocky movies for motivation! the EYE OF THE TIGER! And yes I have seen Pumping Iron another good motivational movie...
I wouldnt add 1/2 lb every day, I would add it when I felt I could get 5 reps, I use to bench at home without a spotter too...So if I couldnt get 5 I`d wait til I could...Many times I`d be struggling in a deadlock with the weight halfway between going up and coming down on me,lol, most of the time it did make it back up on the bench...But i have had it come downon me too, thats not fun!
