Does the security job have potential growth?

I would like to think so. Being a much smaller company the opportunities to advance aren't always there. The thing is it might take me 10 years to get to the level income I was previously earning at a much younger age. What i'm struggling most with is that i'm appreciated. Never got that feeling before no matter much volume I produced. Going back I risk the potential to be laid off again when or if business slows again. I work in the mortgage industry so its very cyclical.

Yea I got layed off 6 months ago. Which bugs me because my production was consistently near the top. Because I dealt with a niche client base my one mistake was magnified during a lull in business. Got lucky found another job without any gap in pay with a much smaller company. My previous employer has offered for me to come back. My current base is comparable but I used to kill it on comp checks.

What was your one mistake?

The economic psychology people say money is a big motivator up to about 75K a year; then people tend to look for more control over their lives and meaningful work; than just working more hours or harder at something not really enjoyed; to get more money...gl

Didn't lock in a rate when I was supposed to. Because of how large the loan was it was $20k buy down. Pretty big deal. If had happened a year or 2 years ago it we were so busy that it would been water under the bridge.
