Actually, hadn't heard about it until you brought it up, but as a liberal democrat, you're right, it was stupid and I hope she loses her job over it. I can't stand her anyways and the Democratic Party is better off without her. Always was.

See, I just don't rush to automatically defend every Democrat like most of the Republicans do -if Rush Limbaugh says something stupid y'all fall all over yourselves trying to justify it. Kinda like the parents who don't thier juvenile delinquent kid could ever do any wrong - it's always the teacher's fault.

Btw, how much flack do you think Hillary would've gotten if she killed somebody in a car accident like Laura Bush did?

How much flack do you think Al Gore would've gotten if he had 2 DUIs like Cheney?

Could this be another massive cover-up by the liberal news media?

She was giving a speech and was going to quote Gandhi and said he was a guy who owned a gas station in downtown St.Louis....it got a bunch of nervous laughter from the audience.

Inappropriate, absolutely, but not so sure it would warrant 'outrage.' The funny thing about left-wing-ish politics -- the ideologies are being spouted by the elites, and it's generally not even remotely close to the general population's views.

I have a friend in Indianapolis who calls himself a Democrat -- he owns a manufacturing facility where approximately, oh, 95% of the labourers are Mexican (the two white people in the plant are both severely mentally handicapped.) He says they're the 'best damned workers' he's ever had ... strangest thing.

Senditin - You are right on. Lott jokes around and gets fired. Hillary jokes around and it no big deal.

It's an total double standard, but we already knew that.

Kman,
Did you read this part?

"After laughter from many in the crowd of at least 200 subsided, the former first lady continued, "No, Mahatma Gandhi was a great leader of the 20th century." In a nod to Farmer's underdog status against Republican Sen. Kit Bond, Clinton quoted the Indian independence leader as saying: "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

Mind you I wasn't at the Lott speech, nor would I ever want to be in my lifetime, but I doubt he's follow up his racism with a noble compliment like Senator Clinton did. The follow, incidentally, clearly shows the context of the comment, albeit it a stupid and ill advised joke, as a joke.

There is always some truth in stereotyping. As they say, the truth hurts sometimes.

Hillary has made a lot more offensive comments than this one; this was just an awful joke with poor delivery. Hillary isn't a comedianne; she needs to stick with nasty, snide comments and cater to her base.

But she did recognize her 'mistake'; Lott was so politically dense he didn't understand the fire burning at his shoelaces. Good riddance.

Howard Dean=Trent Lott...I just hope the good Doctor hangs on a few more weeks.

Perhaps, but there's mostly ignorance in sterotyping.

Let's see Hillary makes a joke about a middle Eastern, Pakistany, Indian or something owning a gas station, which a lot of them do, that's why every one got it. It points out the freedom and opportunity to be found in the US. And do you think Mahatma is spinning? She sterotyped someone and made a really stupid joke in the process. Trent Lott said we should have elected a guy who wouldn't have allowed blacks to vote, sit at the front of the bus, use the same restroom or live anywhere near him...yeh those statements are comparable. Please now ease on down off of that horse and put your hair out Neos.
