Ya know, I'm looking at the enumerated powers, and with today's technology, one could make the case for even less government than they had back when the Constitution was ratified. Don't even get me started on all the unconstitutional crap that followed. We have email, the Internet, Fed Ex...why do we need the post office again?
Local government is obviously necessary - fire, police, ambulance, garbage collection etc. Elected representatives accountable to the people is essential in a free society. Don't let any of these brainwashed Marxist loons tell you that conservatives are "anti-govt".
As far as this broke-ass federal leviathan is concerned, everything except the military should go. It simply doesn't make sense for a ruling class (think Jon Gruber and Cass Sunstein creeps) in Washington to dictate what happens in Tallahassee, FL.
The current generation doesn't even know what freedom is anymore. Freedom is some eeeevil dog-eat-dog concept they have been brainwashed to fear.
So what is freedom? Exhibit A: the Internet.
The Internet is the closest thing we have to a true free market. Does it work? Does it work very well? What would most people say?
So why does the govt need to regulate it? Because the left doesn't control it, and what the left doesn't control, it must either conquer or vilify. Twenty to thirty years from now, little brainwashed akphidelts in their little liberal arts colleges will be taught how horrible the unregulated Internet was, and how our benevolent government saved it from exploitative capitalist swine.
That's the 'progressive' narrative for everything, what we're up against, and how we ended up knee-deep in statism over the last few decades.
