Where's the debate? Why are the Liberals all for sending troops in harms way with nothing to gain and everything to lose.

break up a civil war? Where's the French, Russia, Germans and any other feel good European countries?

This is bad news if Bush goes into Liberia. I can't believe this.

Ok, I'll bite.

I'm fairly sure the UN is calling for intervention on this one because the dictator (Taylor) has volunteered to step down if order is restored.

I don't think the US will be sending troops. In any case it sounds like there's not much left to protect anyway.

The reason why the leftist want US troops to go in is because it will be a complete failure to use US soldiers as police. It just won't work it will be far worse than what's going on in Iraq. Soldiers are not police officers.

I'm a leftist and i don't think it would be a failure.

Why is it you think that all lefties want the US to fail? Where do you get this idea from?

Correct: Soldiers are not police officers. They're not to be used in the restoration or invention of democracy either. That is the job of the citizen.

RFCski,
There's a civil war going on in Liberia. Don't you think are soldiers would be sitting ducks trying to break up a fight. Soldiers kill the enemy they don't go in and make peace. Peace is the result of winning. There's nothing for the US to win, it will be a complete failure. PC police peace keeping will not work, even if it works for a short time the minute we leave they'll be back to killing each other.

"feel good" european countries often send troops to failed African States.

France: Congo, Ivory Coast, for example.

History proves you wrong. Whether or not YOU think soldiers should do this is beside the point. In the past, they have. Period.

If we were to follow your reasoning, they should rename the Department of "Defense".

Peace is the result of winning.

I don't believe Christ would agree with you on this one either.

There's something strange about requesting that your own thread be sent to the Rubber Room and/or deleted.

RFCski,
I meant to only delete the one post.

I say the US should transport all the French, German and Russian troops that want to go in and see how things go.

What's funny is that we call all these nations "feel good" where the supposed quality of life is lower than the US (which is the feel good nation of the world, come to think of it.)
