i agree, thats why i thought NYK would keep it close. i dont think LAL matches up well with them though. we saw what happened in the finals last year.

Yeah, Lakers are too much of a finesse team. They're fun to watch against most teams, but their soft and smooth style tends to render them ineffective against strong defensive teams like Boston and Detroit. I still feel like the Lakers can beat Detroit in a seven game series, but Boston is the best defensive team the NBA has ever seen. I'm actually looking forward to their vets getting older, so the team eventually weakens and fades out. Their defense is light years ahead of anyone's, and it almost seems unfair. :smoking:

BOS is basically what the spurs were 4-5 years ago, but they like to score.

last week all the nba analysists had LAL as the 2nd best team. i was scratching my head at that after the past month where they havent played defense. meanwhile CLE has gone 13 games with opponents scoring <100. i would even put ORL above LAL right now. maybe DEN, although not the way they have been playing lately and maybe POR, SA up there too but i dont think they could be LAL.

lakers should be favored vs boston when they meet. we'll see, but that's what should happen. no way la should be dogs to anybody at home. same goes for clev and boston. none of those three should ever not be favored at home.

Lakers will be favored unless they keep losing before then and celts keep blowing the rest of their teams out by double digits.

Well, they're not playing like the second best team right team. They're playing like a 500 team. Even Stu Lantz, whose loyalty lies with the Lakers, was objectively saying that the Lakers' record is very misleading. This was when the Lakers were 17-2. And then the Lakers went 4-3 after that.

I know they'll turn it around come Playoffs, but it still won't be enough to beat Boston. I'm not too concerned about the West. I know the Lakers will somehow get to the Finals. But it's Boston I'm most concerned about, followed by Detroit.

I'm not that concerned with Cleveland, because they're a pretty good matchup. They play a lot like New Orleans, and the Lakers like playing teams that challenge you on the offensive front.

I have to say Boston is much better than San Antonio. LA has San Antonio's number. Boston is just something entirely else. I would love for Kenny Smith to break down both teams and explain through video footage, what Boston is doing that makes them such a defensive juggernaut, and what LA is doing that makes them break down on the defensive end. I'd really like to know that from an expert analysis.

LAL getting 3 pts against NO (opened at 2)... last time when LAL played them (and Lakers were in much better shape) NO was -1/1.5... LAL won easily (NO tried the late comeback)...
So if Lakers lose to NO... I think Celtics might even get favoured by few (-1/1.5)... if Lakers win in NO it might be pk or Lakers by few...
it seems odd to me that Boston was -4 at Atlanta and now to be favoured by 1 or 2 at LA... not much of a point difference, but then again - it's all in the matchup and atlanta match very good

so...

Lakers lose in NO - Boston -1/-1.5
Lakers win in NO - Lakers pk/-1/-1.5

Wow, LA dominating the poll.

But you have to admit riding such a huge W streak against LAL might not bode to well for the C's

Probably going to be one of the best XMAS games in some time though
