I can’t seem to get a positive answer from AirNewzealand.
I read and get conflicting information.

Does anyone know if you can use messaging Apps like WhatsApp on airline WiFi?

Thanks!

Since you don’t know how to google or use ChatGPT I will do it for you

You can potentially use WhatsApp on a plane if the airplane offers Wi-Fi access and it's enabled on your phone. However, using WhatsApp on a plane might incur charges depending on the airline's Wi-Fi policy. Some airlines offer free messaging through texting apps like WhatsApp, while others charge for internet access. It's always best to check with your airline beforehand to see what their Wi-Fi options and costs are.

Here let me introduce you to ChatGPT

Air New Zealand does not currently allow you to use WhatsApp for voice calls or video calls while on board their flights due to aviation regulations. However, you can use WhatsApp for messaging if you have purchased in-flight Wi-Fi. Air New Zealand does offer its own mobile app that you can use to manage your bookings, check in for your flight, and get real-time flight information.

From my experience, you can definitely use WhatsApp on a plane if the airline offers Wi-Fi and it's enabled on your phone. I've found that different airlines have different policies – some might offer free messaging through apps like WhatsApp, while others charge for internet access.

Anything you use while flying will be inconsistent at best.

JetBlue offers Flyfi, and it doesn't work when you're over the ocean. My guess is you'll be over the ocean for most of your flight. Just sleep and watch movies

I can confirm, it worked all the way from Houston to Auckland. Smooth and enjoyable flight.
