Lynard Skynard played in my hometown Lewisville, Tx last summer. They played outdoors downtown which is random as hell if you knew the city.
That wasn't Skynard..... They've been playing as Skynard for years, but that band died in the late 70's. I'm from Jacksonville (their hometown), went to school w/ Amy Collins (Alan Collins daughter). Alan Collins crashed his motorcycle near my house and died from complications from that accident (he was paralyzed).
I was born in 1970, so a lot of the 60's & 70's bands were broken up by the time I was going to concert age.
I never saw the original line up of Styx and would have loved that. I finally saw the Eagles about 3 years ago, thankfully (now that Frey is dead). Kiss, Queen, Iron Maiden, Bob Seger, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, Heart, and a few others are on the list too...
Traveling South from St. Marys GA onto your neck of the woods the stories I heard about Skynyrd when they played at "Fish Camps" were interesting. A few guys like yourself who lived thru that time, when Skynyrd was born and in the area that happened....among the best memories I've been blessed to hear.

Ronnie Van Zant's grave is in Orange Park and still gets a ton of visitors (and vandals). I lived near Clark's Fish Camp, but it was a shit hole until the late 80's so I doubt they ever played there. They went to Robert E. Lee HS (where coach Skinner, their name sake was a gym coach) on the westside of town. Lot's of fish camps and bars on that side of town. Funny that most people outside of Jacksonville have no clue where they came from. The song "Sweet Home Alabama" throws a lot of people off! I love their music. Didn't really appreciate it when I was younger, but it's the best southern rock ever played. If you get a chance, check out a band called Blackberry Smoke - great southern rock. Also, another Jacksonville band that is awesome, JJ Grey (Mofro).
Yeah, on the "Funny that most people outside of Jacksonville have no clue where they came from." which was the case 100% with me when I stumbled onto Atlantic Beach...Neptune Beach....whichever that was that is basically Jacksonville (to my understanding anyways)...whatever Beaches those are approx. to JAX...
...its been since 1999/2000 that journey that took me to your parts. So the Old Mind has trouble recalling the precise Map Points along The Alcohol Fueled Blur.
Only one random person mentioned to me Skynyrd & The Fish Camps, I'd no idea I was where Skynyrd began....that in itself was great but the Fish Camp stories...I don't know if that first guy called people to come over but people showed up with amazing Skynyrd Bootlegs on old cassette tapes
