70+ years of ever increasingly piled up socialism and government involvement in the free market place (promoted by both the GOP and DEMs to various degrees) finally blowing up into on big pile of dogshit sending us into the next depression

Tiz, to have a free market economy without Govt intervention, the American worker would have to compete with the Guatemalans, Nicaraguans, sri lankans and all the others.

it all starts with education and using our braincells
creating more inventors and higher wage workers doing things that most people in the world can't do
that said government has ruined our education system as well and is another long term problem we have
we used to be near the top of the list we down to 20 something now
and as for selling nike shoes for 90 here
that's the stupid consumers own damn fault
don't pay the 90 dollars its pretty simple go to payless for your shoes if you can't afford them and don't go into debt buying overpriced shoes that's for damn sure

under a sound stable monetary policy in which government can't spend as much as it pleases pretty much

bottom line what has been done has been done
there is nothing that can "fix" it other than some pain and the american people waking up to the root cause of our problems

the problem is our economic system is no where near a free market sound monetary policy system anymore
the reason deregulation sucks under our farse system is because the federal reserve can manipulate credit, FNM and government are involved in promoting home ownership and egged on the lenders to give people loans to people that couldn't afford it, and also the FDIC and FED being a backstop to the banks and lenders lets them know if they do take on too much risk and get in trouble they will be bailed out by nanny state government
we the people need to regulate the fed and government as they are not on your side
they are on the corporations and big businesses side
a classic example i like are minimum wage hikes that is supposed to help the little guy
it may in the short term but long term....
who does this help? walmart
who does this hurt? small mom and pop businesses and eventually they go bankrupt and jobs are lost
