I have a couple of local bookies that I bet baseball that I have the following arrangement with:

They deal me the line and I can move it 5 cents either way. I have to bet the same amount on every game and I have to bet every game. So in other words if they deal it 165 it is really plus/or minus 60 either side. I have been doing this for 10 years or so and at first I'd just try and scalp 50's and 100's at a time with the only risk being stiffed. I learned quickly that it was better to compare their numbers to a solid line and get on what ever side they put me on. This year they have all been kicking my ass and I have been scratching my head and second guessing my stratedgy.

I'd like to hear how some of you sharps would approach this or if you would approach it.

Also if you were a bookmaker would you give someone this deal if the money was up?

If they're dealing a 20 cent baseball line then this is nothing more than a dimeline. In other words if their line is +140/-160 and you move then you're being dealt +145/-155. Nothing special in itself but maybe they're also dealing generous lines otherwise.

If you don't care where you win or lose then scalp em if they're scalpable.

so your saying you would bet the number that is FURTHEST away (good value wise) from the "consenus" line. Basically going one-sided (no scalp) and getting beat.

I did this for hoops and rolled this past winter/spring. I tried it for bases and I too lost my ass. They say it is a winning proposistion in the long run but not so sure for bases.

Its just another PROP.
But if were to attack it, this is what i would do. I would move Every chalk up the 5 cents, then take Every dog.

Keep us posted on what you play starting tomorrow and lets see what happens. I think its beatable? But Only back through the Doggies.

Here's an example of what I did tonight at 5pm Central:

ATL-61
MIL-32
Cubs-24
Cin+15
Col-35
AZ-63
LAD-13
SF-63
Tor-03
Bos+15
TB+20

So you see if I'd have taken the dogs i could've gotten better numbers at a square shop. You have to get on whatever side they put you on. What good would Was +61 be? I'm not saying it won't win that has nothing to do with it. I am just saying that you can not just blindly take the dogs if they shade the numbers low. What I am doing here is the equivalent of booking a customer who is betting on the dogs.

BOL to you. If you dont mind post us ALL the Doggs tonight at whatever price you could have taken. Then we shall see what happens at the end of the nights action.
If you will notice that the Bookmaker is forceing you to the Chalks, just where he wants you all along...
Openers should have more of your attention than the closers, by far!!

The dogs would be plus the same amount the favorites are minus. Example if he gives me the game 135 then i can have either the favorite minus 30 or the dog plus 30

a good deal for them.they get all the action and on many days there are 15 games and they realze it would be hard for you to make a decent profit and over the course of a week it can and usually does add up to a large number, either for or against. but in the end (after a long season they usually come out good)

when i was booking back in the 90's i let 2 guys do this, and also let them play all totals and move them 1/2 run.sounds like you have been playing with them a longtime and your chances of being stiffed are probably pretty small.and if you have a legitamate offshore book you know you will not be stiffed by them.

only problem i see is you may be unable to scalp all 15 games a day,due to the numbers not being right.if i had my choice i would ask them to deal me the totals 1/2 run instead, you would really have a better chance to be able to get off all of the games, and hit many middles.

most if not all "locals" deal 20 cent lines and most round up (ex -161, becomes 165 or 70,etc.) it makes grading by hand easier

Out of about 16 locals I know of in my area they all use 10 cent lines. Its interesting for me that you think that it is a good deal for the bookie. It is actually the same thing as laying even money in football. I know I have been losing lately, but I say you show me a bookie that deals a dime line and will let me move each game 5 cents and that is just as good a booking a customer in baseball. I would bet him all year and then make a side bet that I quit winner for the year. Now as far as the totals go, that deal you mentioned above is absolutley unbeatable for the bookie over time. 1/2 a run in baseball has to be equal to like anywhere from 25 to 45 cents depending on the number (7 or 9). I'd love to find that deal somewhere.
