Urban sold his soul to the devil years ago. This game was just another favor from Satan himself. That or he did some Belicheck style cheating. They are not 50 pts better than Wisconsin. Then again shit does happen. Interesting thread and interesting question. Id say he cheated somehow. Had playbook or access to play calls

I will say that Meyer is the master of guile and chicanery while going through his coaching gyrations. I remember when he feinted
"health-issues" when he wanted-out at Florida.....Rumor has it, he applied make-up on his face to give him that gaunt (bad health)
look. Meyer is a sly fox.

I believe they would lay down, they wanna get all the power conferences in that's why they made sure no 2 sec teams would be In it ,

ChevyJ

Badgers aren't laying down for anyone. They were just taken to the woodshed and bitch slapped

besides

two SEC teams were never happening once Mississippi dusted Mississippi State... Mississippi State was the 2nd SEC team in the equation because of their close loss to Alabama.

You are right Bernie, the Badgers Do NOT lay-down but they usually don't get "bitch-slapped" on a regular basis either. The purpose of this thread with to dredge-up some thought as to what caused what happened to Wisconsin, other than the obvious. Was it poor coaching, a lack of preparation, bad pre-game food or was it that Las Vegas made them (4) point favorites and all they had to show-up and all will end well. The memories of that 59-zip thrashing wont go-away soon.

Wisconsin is one of those bi-polar teams. All you have to do is look at their season. They beat Maryland by 45 points, lose to Northwestern, beat Nebraska by 35, barely get by Iowa. They are a one-dimensional type of team that if they can't get their way running the ball, they tend to get into trouble. The Ohio St. game was a good example of it. They rushed for only 71 yards, and that started the collapse. I see this happen with bully teams all the time. If they can't bully their opponents they tend to collapse like a cheap lawn chair. Especially when the other team has a good offense that can keep pouring it on...

One factor overlooked in this game was how Wisconsin just got done playing their 3 biggest games of conference play in a row in Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota. The latter 2 games being very physical games from start to finish. Probably did not go into the BIGCG with too much left in the tank.

This 8-team playoff non-sense is the dumbest thing. All that is going to do is incentivize teams to schedule absolutely nobody OOC to avoid loses and have a chance to get into the playoff. What year has there ever been 8 deserving teams? Hell, what year has there ever been 5? I'd argue that a 3-team playoff with the #1 team getting a bye would be more appropriate. Anytime there has been a debate with the BCS, it basically was a 2 teams debating for the 2nd spot in the NC game….and this year is no exception.

In the BCS era, I can think of only 4 years where there was a debate beyond the top-2 teams:
2011 (Bama vs OkSt)
2008 (Ok vs Texas)
2004 (Auburn)
2003 (LSU vs USC)

Other than the above 4 years, there has clearly been 2 teams better than everyone else. Ohio St, TCU, and Baylor are good teams but its pretty clear that Oregon, FSU, and Alabama are the best 3 teams this year. Going to 8-teams will just water it down and there will be some really bad teams that backdoor their way into it by playing weak schedules.

In 2009, there were five teams that finished the season undefeated. An 8 team playoff would have been needed that year.

Final BCS Poll 2009:

1 Alabama 13-0
2 Texas 13-0
3 Cincinnati 12-0
4 TCU 12-0
5 Florida 12-1
6 Boise State 13-0
7 Oregon 10-2
8 Ohio State 10-2
9 Georgia Tech 11-2
10 Iowa 10-2

Haha….Sure. Really? You think Cinncy, TCU, and Boise St were on the level of Texas & Alabama that year? I think a few High School teams in New Mexico also went undefeated, maybe we should include them as well.

Great point "spoken"; Three rivalry games in a row is going to take the "piss & vinegar" out of most college football teams no matter
what conference they play-in. It looks like the 12 & 13 game schedules will set a team up for an embarrassing loss such as what the Badgers experienced........"Out of Gas" as you put it.

And now the Wisconsin head-coach (out-of-nowhere) ends up heading back out west. I wonder if he had this inkling prior
to the Ohio State game ?
