As an observer of this issue it seems to me that the Patriot Act violates the first, fourth and possibly the fifth amendments to your Constitution. These amendments consitute, in part, what is known as your Bill of Rights. So Ashcroft and the Justice Department have infringed upon the rights of all Americans.
Furthermore the draft Domestic Security Act (some call this Patriot II) is even more drastic and if enacted will make your country a police state similar to the Soviet Union under Communism.
