What if New Orleans intentions are to never trade AD to LAL but instead make LAL implode?

Interesting theory I just saw on The Jump (ESPN) from Rachel Nichols. She disclaimed she has no knowledge or rumor but just an idea she thought of.

What if New Orleans intentions are to never trade AD to the Lakers? Nichols floats out that New Orleans is furious that LAL & Lebron TAMPERED with AD before the summertime deadline. And that the Lakers simply tried to "reach in" and take AD from them. So, in retaliation, New Orleans simply strings the Lakers along. Leak all of LA's trade offers to the public and never calls LA back throughout the process. In the end you get events that took place last night where there's total chaos in L.A. The team quits on Lebron, send Laker management in to Plan B efforts (whatever that is), and create total and utter dysfunction.

Pretty interesting angle. I think that's exactly what's happening.

If the Lakers want him that bad, they should have to offer more than a eastern conference team (in the eyes of NO). They will have to face him for years to come.

Sounds like a classic, kooky ESPN analyst theory.

New Orleans would never do that, even if they were furious with the Lakers. They are absolutely considering a trade with them.

Could be. but there's also other teams working to trade with New Orleans as well. Remember none of this madness started until Lebron got involved. New Orleans thought they were safe w/ AD for the season and had till July to worry about it. Remember New Orleans are the ones who revealed they haven't called LA back while dealing with other orgs in trade talks.

since the super bowl is over and espn only covers football and basketball than this made up story seems completely within their wheelhouse. cant talk football so might as well talk lebron because the 14 other nba debate shows cant only talk about is "lebron as good as MJ". when there isnt a story just make one up. thats our media these days.

AD can always go to LA the following year

*shrug*
pels need to focus on what they can control, and that is the trade opportunity that lies ahead.

Nobody wants those scrubs LA has to offer.

Someone will offer New Orleans a much better deal.

If the Knicks offered just the #1 pick, Kevin Knox, Mitchell Robinson, and Dennis Smith Jr., I'd rather take that package over anything the Lakers could offer.
