Soriano,

Just curious what you are liking about Brazil? The women?

Pretty much everything:
The women, the parties during high season, the weather (even though January was almost too much) and even the food (at least the steaks/churrasco), even though I sometimes miss the quality & freshness of fish + fruit, I got too enjoy in Costa Rica. And in comparison to Germany I love the general attitude/way of life, people in general are more welcoming and bars/restaurants are busy during the whole week since ppl tend to enjoy life and spend time outside, less focus on their career.

Downside is the insane traffic (esp. during high season), the bureaucracy/strict visa rules (unless you just want to visit for up to 3 months) and the rather high cost of living.

buying WAMU mid '08 thinking they wouldn't let the largest S&L lose all shareholder value and it would just go the way of slow recovery i.e C/BAC

letting my friend talk me into loaning him $ to sell weed at his college, venture capital gone wrong to say the least

2/ 29 years ago I used to lay -120

Much was learned in those 3 years, long ago...

1,2, and 3 buying a brand new 4 door 150.... It's a badass truck but 800 bucks a month plus insurance is just too much to pay for a ride

$800 car payment? damn! I'm 37 and the only car payment I ever had was $150 a month. I hate car payments.

I've decided that debt of any kind is dumb. My biggest mistake is that I got used to having debts when I bought a 12K car right out of school. It was only like 250 a month, but just stupid to follow the system that everyone else is doing. Later, I got into credit card debt and it was "no big deal" because I had a low interest rate. I'm doing better financially and drive a 20 year old car that I bought for 1500 and I wouldn't have it any other way. Dave Ramsey is an idiot when it comes to investing, and he thinks he knows it all. But his philosophy of getting debt free and staying debt free is the only way to live.

My next two dumbest financial decisions were craps and strippers. It's amazing how money has no value to you anymore when you enter a strip club or buy chips at a table. But I guess everyone has to be dumb before they are smart, and undisciplined before disciplined.

I hate debt as well. My only debt is my mortgage and I have a 3.375 interest rate on a 30.
