Well on top of that PP, it goes both ways. I think WSU will let up in this spot traveling. Glad to see they seem to have at least blinked once or twice in that coma they've been in, but I'd wait for them to go back home before I'd expect any kind of effort from that team. After the first 2 or 3 TD's ASU scores, WSU will hang up their cleats and wait it out, then just punch thier time cards when the game is done. They won't keep trying.
The ASU/WSU game is interesting because I can see ASU getting a comfortable lead and then just running the ball. I can't see Erickson trying to run up the score and look at what WSU did against Zona which is better on both sides of the ball. If they put up 21 pts against ASU, and it's entirely possible, it may make getting a cover tough.

Love the 2 Oregon schools though.

WinOne!!

Conan, what do you think about playing ASU (-20) for the 1st Half? Isn't it better than the current (-36) spread for the entire game?

No promises DANDORO, but I wouldn't because WSU will play it's strongest game before they get worn down. They'll blow it in the 2H if they manage to keep up in the 1H. Look at last week's box score.

GL to you anyway if you decide to fade them in the 1H.

4:30 PM PDT Update

OR-3.5/AZ*
OSU-3/Cal*
(W)
Stan+23/USC*
UW+7.5/UCLA*
ASU-34/WSU*
(37 is fine)
NEV-14/SJSU*
(W)
UCLA/UW U46.5*
SJSU/NEV U52* (L)

So far pretty good.

How about that Stanford team going up 7-0 on USC by running straight at them? Love it. USC seems to be fighting for their lives. Looks a little like money so far. (knock on wood)

Ducks are doing Zona as expected. (knock on wood)

WSU hasn't scored. They should wilt in the 2H. (knock on wood)

Never expected SJSU's defense to mail it in at home. NEV wasn't supposed to score that much. My mistake.

Hope everyone here is winning their games today!

Congratz on the Oregon St. win, Conan. Two more tough games for them, but I think they can win out.

Stanford's looking good early.

Thanks for the effort you put in each week.

Well thank you SD!

Amazing how similar Cal and OSU are by their similar strengths (except that I figured OSU wins the QB battle.) A bunch of this bet hinged on Riley not playing well and it turns out that I was right. But I was impressed how Oregon State wore down Cal's rushig defense in the 2nd half and took control of the game on the ground. Moevao's clutch completions are one reason why this kid is so good. His reads are right on and he finds his receivers when he has to. Oregon State just "out-weaponed" Cal today. Their defense locked up Cal better than Cal's defense was able to stop the Beavers. They just plain beat them.

You make some great points, Conan. I thought overall Oregon St. played great on special teams. Also, the Rodgers brothers sure are fun to watch!!

I noticed that too!

Best ran back the opening kickoff for 51 yards and the Bears scored with a short field afterwards. James Rogers comes back and the Beavers punch Cal back even harder when he runs Cal's kickoff back for a TD. That's how you characterize this Beaver team. You hit them and they hit you back worse. Tedford looked disgusted by that and also after Sammie Straughter returned Cal's 1st punt for a bunch on their very next posession. The Beavers can get into your face a lot of ways. Watching the USC game now compared to watching the Beavers play earlier... obvious which team is playing better football.

Think I also got the Oregon game right too. Oregon's rushing game is too much for the Cat defense. Zona can score points but they can't keep up with the Ducks. That seems to be playing out how I figured that one too. (knock on wood)

Yeah Gyno... Oregon :) Do you think the Ducks will hang 60 on them today?

But what happened to ASU? Did Erickson call off the dogs early? I didn't see the game but I hate losing games I was winning because of a lousy few points vs a big number that almost worked... and especially with WSU involved? So I get backdoored... but I know damn well that WSU's defense deserves no credit, nor their offense. I think the linemaker was just lucky with this one today.

Bah.

Final recap for week 12

Well I guess the Huskies only chance to win a game this year will be if they can overcome the mighty Coogs in the Apple Cup. I thought they would do better than a TD vs a terrible UCLA team. Not so. At least I figured the total scoring right in the game.

OR-3.5/AZ*(W)
OSU-3/Cal*
(W)
Stan+23/USC*
(W)
UW+7.5/UCLA*
(L)
ASU-34/WSU*

NEV-14/SJSU*

UCLA/UW U46.5*(W)
SJSU/NEV U52* (L)

5-3 ain't too bad for the week-- +2 units
41-26 (61%) for the year -- +19.5 units

Just got back from the Stanford / USC game and as you probably know I missed the USC cover by 1/2 a point. It was a bizare ending to say the least. I thought the cover was in hand until the last drive. With 3 seconds left Stanford was going for a field goal which wouldn't have hurt the USC backers. Then Carrol calls a time out which I thought was odd. Stanford goes for a final TD shot and makes it. I was on the other endzone and it looked like it could have been incomplete which I thought was the case when the TD got waved off. All the USC backers cheered, and the points were taken off back to 17. The game was over and with no extra point kicked, I was confident that was a close cover for me. As we were leaving the stadium I heard the final score again and Stanford has 23...Not sure what happened, but when I saw Harbough's reaction on replay he sure looked like he had a sense of relief when it was all over.

I will say, Stanford played a pretty good game up until late in the 3rd & 4th quarter. I was suprised to see the success they had on the ground with the "hurt running back playing".. Guess I got my moneys worth..LOL

Normally on a play like that there would have been a replay review to make sure that the Stanford receiver didn't trap the ball.

Also:

How can anyone say after this happening twice at the end of a game that Harbaugh doesn't have some homeys laying bets for him?

I was on the wrong side last time he did it but this time I was lucky.
