New Iraq Chief: Evidence Linking Saddam to 9/11 Is 'Genuine'

The man tapped to head Iraq's new interim government has vouched for the authenticity of evidence that links Saddam Hussein to the 9/11 attacks.

Though the notion that Iraq played a role in 9/11 is considered heresy in U.S. intelligence circles, newly appointed Iraq Prime Minister Ayad Allawi said in December that a document purported to be from Saddam's intelligence service that places lead 9/11 hijacker Mohamed Atta in Baghdad two months before the attacks was indeed "genuine."

"We are uncovering evidence all the time of Saddam's involvement with al-Qaeda," Allawi told the London Telegraph at the time. "But this is the most compelling piece of evidence that we have found so far. It shows that not only did Saddam have contacts with al-Qaeda, he had contact with those responsible for the September 11 attacks."

As reported by the Telegraph at the time, the document - a handwritten memo dated July 1, 2001 - provides a short resume of a three-day "work program" Atta had undertaken at Abu Nidal's terrorist training camp in Baghdad.

Nidal was executed by Saddam's secret police in August 2002 in what some suspect was a bid to keep him from telling what he knew about 9/11.

Again, proving guilt after conviction is not credible.

Further, don't hold your breath here. Chalabi offered up a fair bit of intelligence, too, didn't he? These are self-interested, US-friendly individuals. While I'm not saying this is untrue, I'm cautioning you that more bullshit than fact has come from the mouths of this admin ... take this one with a grain of salt.

Your right and I am...but if ths is a comment from the "new guy", where is the main stream media on this?...where was the main stream media when this guy thanked Usa for what they have done?

There was suspicion regarding Atta's meeting with Iraqy guys in Czheck (?) or somwhere....Suspicion is not fact, but pre 9/11 info was only suspicion too.

Well, peaches, that would be like me posting an article from ZNet and complaining that the mainstream media doesn't report it. NewsMax and ZNet aren't exactly widely known for checking their sources ... you'll see it on CNN if it holds any water.

Patriot,

You can expect many links to be found in the future but the republicans will not put this on the front burner and poke fun a the demi's with the information basically saying: "See I told you so."

That tactic is kinda slimy considering how ignorant the demi's and the libs are so here is what I say will happen.

Bush will make mention of these undisputable links in his first debate with Kerry. Kerry will have a look on his face like he was smelling his own fart. Hell, Zarkawi ( fvck the spelling, the Al Queda dude ) had his leg worked on by Saddams doctors in the early 90's. I'm sure Saddam had a patient privacy protection law in effect so that the world would not find out. Socialized medicine I guess. The demis are digging their own grave but I think the UN will lie in the hole before them.
