2-1 ATS -- that's the business we're in here.... I had the over and was disappointed that Kiffin played it smart for 3 quarters. I thought they'd fall behind a little - panic start throwing with Crompton and int's would come. I expected a fumble from Hardesty at some point. He fumbles every other friggin game except the one I need him to. When Tenn has the ball so much - there was no way it was going over.

I did think with 6 minutes left down by 10 (I was dreaming of overtime as a way to get over 52)-- why the hell is Kiffin still running and killing his own clock. Really should have been throwing every play at some point.

I thought Florida showed some weaknesses. Inability to throw downfield. Even some problems defending the run. Didn't get Demps and Rainey in the open field enough. Anybody see Riley Cooper? Hernandez had like 2 catches.

Florida is gonna have to get better if they're going to go undefeated. To me, Alabama looks like the best team in the country. Doesn't mean they'll get all the way thru either. The SEC is obviously very tough.

After the game Coach Meyer said Demps didn't get as many touches (I think he had 4 all game) because he was sick with a 101 degree fever. Hernandez and Cooper also had fevers.

I'm happy for Tennessee. They now celebrate double digit losses to us. I hope we can keep you guys happy for a long time.

Was that publicized at all before the game? I wouldn't have bet the over if I knew that. Did I miss it?

No, it wasnt. Deonte Thompson was in street clothes but Meyer told the press he was "limited" in practice. I guess by "limited" he meant, not practicing at all.

Thanks..... Yeah, I heard about Thompson before the game. It's one thing to lose. It's another to lose because I miss something in my research. That really pisses me off when that happens. I rely on hometown newspaper sites for alot of my injury type information but sometimes it does happen.

Eric Berry is a stud, it's a shame they wont let him play Quarterback.

Crompton is pathetic.

It's sad that this series has dipped to such a level that a 10-point loss is considered a moral victory (still a very nice cover). Who would have thought that of the Big Three FL schools, FSU and Miami would have looked the most impressive this weekend? Tennessee's defense is very strong, and their offensive line (for at least two drives) absolutely blew FL's off the ball. Considering how they played against UCLA, I think Tennessee has to feel good about the rest of their season and getting back to winning ways. But make no mistake about it, this series has become way too lopsided with FL winning 18 out of the last 24 games.

Did Kiffin even try to win Saturday’s game?

by Ben Volin Read any account of Saturday’s game between Florida and Tennessee, and there is one common theme: Urban Meyer and the Gators may have won the game, but Lane Kiffin and the Volunteers are winning the war after their better-than-expected performance in Florida’s 23-13 win at The Swamp.
But did Kiffin even try to win the game? Or was his plan from the opening kickoff to simply concede defeat, keep the margin of victory close and claim a moral victory in the press?
Meyer, sick of the expectations and “silliness” surrounding his program right now, said on Sunday that he suspects it was the latter.
“When I saw them start handing the ball off, you didn’t feel like they were going after the win,” he said. “I remember looking out there, there’s 10 minutes left in the game, there’s no no-huddle, they’re down by 23-6, and no urgency.”

Looking at the play-by-play, Meyer may have a point.
Early in the third quarter, Tennessee trailed just 16-6 and had first-and-25 at the 25. Instead of trying to throw down field with his shaky quarterback, Jonathan Crompton, Kiffin accepted defeat on that possession and gladly punted away. Kiffin called three straight runs up the middle, including a run over right guard on third-and-20 that was stuffed for no gain.
Trailing 23-6 early in the fourth quarter, Kiffin’s first three playcalls were a sweep right and two screen passes that kept the clock running. Trailing 23-13 with 6 miutes left, Kiffin opened the series with two straight running plays.
Like Meyer said, there was no no-huddle, no shotgun formations, no four-receiver sets. Kiffin had no problem bleeding the clock from 6 minutes to 2 minutes, even with the game in reach at 23-13.
Later Sunday, Meyer reiterated his dismay with Tennessee’s ambivalent offense with Pete Thamel of the New York Times.
“It was unbelievable,” Meyer told Thamel. “They were taking their time snapping the ball when they could go win the game. There was no two-minute drill.”
Meyer, meanwhile, said he could care less about the point spread or the expectations, and was simply happy to walk out of Saturday’s game with a hard-fought win against an SEC East rival.
“We’re not trying to impress the pollsters, we’re trying to win the game,” Meyer said.

Sarkisian had his Huskies playing their guts out right to the end when LSU beat them in Seattle. They lost but they looked pretty good doing it.

Kiffin was absolute chickenshit.

Hard to believe that they both worked under Pete Carroll.

Tennessee....

has created a new low point in the program. Losing by 10 is now a moral victory. I have several UT friends that think Sat. game was atrocious and Kiffin DID NOT try to win a game he was down 10 with 8 minutes to go.

Recruiting they will need considering that offensive line that will be completely gone next year, except for the center. That should work out real well. Year 2 break in a new offensive line. By year 3, you might have a winning record again.

The guy that wrote that article obviously has no idea how bad crompton is. It is about 500% more likely that TN would get a first down on 3 and 20 by running Hardesty up the middle rather than letting Crompton throw another pick.

Crompton doesnt have the ability to throw a hot pass to the tight end over the middle, much less run a 2 minute offense.
