<HR color=#cd5713 SIZE=1>HAPPY NEW YEARS TO ALL OF MY FAVE COVERS
POSTERS/CONTRIBUTORS!
I fully realize that this is one ugly card for many obvious reasons and there are only two
games where both teams have a lot on the line and they are both early games
non-dependent on any possible type of earlier result.
BUT one line really hit me from the moment it came out and i still cannot believe it has
not moved much perhaps the many sharps are still caught up in new year’s day revelling.
I’m talking about the SAINTS +7.5...
both teams are 7-8,both teams have a shot at the playoffs-one just has to knock the other
off and hope a few other moons within the playoff scenario universe get aligned .last time
carolina covered a spread this big at home was all the way back to 1999 !
here’s a few more strong trends:
no/car...
car 1-3 ats at home in final game.
no is 8-4 ats on the road in final game s 77.
no is 9-1 ats as div road dogs s 00
the road team covered 7 of last 8 in series.
the dog covered 6 of last 8 in series...(6-0 run)
Haslett is now 9-0 ats as a road underdog of three or more.
New Orleans is 10-0 as div. road dogs of 5 or more.
John Fox plays it close to the vest and is just 6-11 ats as a home favorite in the reg.season
I have heard so much about this panthers club as they went on a 6 game winning streak
prior to their valiant OT loss to the falcons last saturday nite ( tremendous ballgame) but
let’s look at who they beat.....SF,AZ,TB X 2 (grammatica missed 3 FG’s and lost his job
in the first meeting),NO and STL w/ chris chandler offering them 6 picks, none of which
they could capitalize on in a 20-7 game with no score in the 2nd half when he threw most
of his picks.Combined these teams “racked” up a 26-49 SU record (.346%)..hardly a
worldbeating call to braggadocio.no wonder they “found” some offence.
now the saints were not beating up on teams of any higher calibre but no less either.in the
32-21 loss to carolina the saints had 3 turnovers that all resulted in points scored on them, 10 quick
penalties and a 23-0 deficit in a blink of an eye. they fought back hard .saints have found
a little defence, have not pulled their trademark “we see the eye of the playoffs swoon”
and have excelled on the road where the panthers have been abysmal==>in their own
home.
YOU ARE TALKING TWO INTER-DIVISIONAL RIVALS W/ EXACT SAME
RECORD,THE DOG IN THE MUCH MORE IDEAL SITU ,INJURIES PLAGUING
THE DEFENCE IN CAROLINA.ADD TO THE MIX THAT THEY BOTH HAVE AN
EQUAL SHOT AT MAKING THE PLAYOFFS AND ..........................................
YOU ARE GONNA GIVE ME 7.5 POINTS.....SIGN ME UP.
This is as stellar a proposition as the chargers were in last week and very similar in many
aspects..I do not see brooks and haslett and co. laying an egg here. Many may want to
consider the ML play here on nawlins.
