A CBB future bet I love that I'll share (I wagered this 2 weeks ago):

1* Louisville +1200 to win NCAA Championship

I think UCONN and UNC are the only two teams you can argue to me that are better. I personally have them ahead of UCONN and below UNC. Regardless of how you have them ranked there's great value here.

Note: I would play +1000 at .5* and anything above that at 1*

This is my first true wager (I've messed around with .1* plays here and there) of the CBB season. As I stated in previous threads I'll be in full force come March.

I'm a little superstitious about posting futures for whatever reason but this play I feel pretty confident with.

1.5* Pitt +3 -110
.10* Pitt +3.5 -104 (MB) Going to continue adding until I reach 2*
1* N.C. State +1.5
.50* Oregon State -2
.50* Pokes +7.5
.25* GTech +9.5 (might buy back if certain players are unable to play)
.25* FSU +14.5

Hitting Pitt now for a tad more as I'm a little concerned some touts (mainly Dr. Bob) will see what I see.

--RB Jonathan Dwyer, who posted his eighth 100-yard rushing game, bruised his knee but said he'll be fine for the Nov. 29 game at Georgia.

--S Dominique Reese and LB Sedric Griffin left in the first half with knee injuries and did not return. Coach Paul Johnson said he did not think they were serious injuries.

--CB Jahi Word-Daniels, who has missed four straight games with a hamstring injury, is expected to return for the Nov. 29 game at Georgia.

--------------------------------------------------------------

ATLANTA (AP) -- Georgia Tech romped to a 41-23 win over No. 23 Miami on Thursday night, but it did come at a cost.

Two defensive starters, outside linebacker Sedric Griffin and free safety Dominique Reese, both left the game with injured left knees. Neither returned.

"When you get to this time of year, everyone has got guys hurt," coach Paul Johnson said.

Griffin was injured on the second play from scrimmage, a 20-yard run by Miami's Graig Cooper. Reese went down later in the first half.

Johnson is hopeful that both will be able to return for the Nov. 29 game against Georgia.

"We're banged up," the coach said. "But I don't think anybody is really serious."

The most worrisome injury came on Jonathan Dwyer's second touchdown run with 1:59 left in the half, giving the Yellow Jackets a 24-3 lead. Several trainers worked on his left knee, and teammates huddled around the bench to check on their star running back's condition.

Dwyer managed to run off the field at halftime, waving his arms to the crowd, but he never got back on the field. He spent much of the second half on an exercise bike, trying to loosen up his knee.

Johnson has hoped to get Dwyer back on the field for at least one series in the third quarter.

"But he came up to me and said, 'I can't hardly bend it,"' Johnson recalled. "I said, 'OK, you're done."'

Dwyer had a huge first half, rushing for 128 yards on just 10 carries -- his eighth 100-yard game of the season, one off the school record. He broke off a 58-yard touchdown and powered over from the 6 for his second score, but apparently twisted his knee as he dragged two defenders and bounced off another at the goal line.

Another Georgia Tech player, left tackle Nick Claytor, went to the sideline with his right arm hanging limply by his side. He was back on the field at the start of the second half.

Something to back up my statement

Having said that Paul Johnson is coaching this team mainly due to Tech's recent inability to beat the Dawgs. I can assure you that this team will be fired up for this game and they'll leave everything out on the field.

The Jackets set goals before the season and posted them in the locker room as daily reminders. Senior Darryl Richard talked about those goals after the 41-23 win over Miami.
He noted the No. 1 goal was to beat Georgia and break the seven-game losing streak. It had a higher priority than winning the ACC, than going undefeated at home.

This is why its a small wager

Georgia Tech’s injury situation is worse than originally thought.

The Jackets likely will be without two defensive starters for the Georgia game and could be without as many as four.

Linebacker Sedric Griffin and safety Dominique Reese suffered knee injuries in Thursday’s victory over Miami that are “serious enough that they’re probably going to be out,” coach Paul Johnson said after Saturday’s practice.

Johnson hopes defensive tackle Vance Walker (ankle) and cornerback Jahi Word-Daniels (hamstring), who were available for emergency duty against Miami, will be back on the field against the Bulldogs.

“I know they’ll be emergency guys at worst again, but whether they’ll be back starting, we’ll know once practice starts again next week,” Johnson said.

B-back Jonathan Dwyer, the ACC’s leading rusher, did not practice Saturday because of his bruised knee but hopes to practice Monday.

Johnson said there’s a chance right tackle David Brown, who has missed three games with a spinal injury, will return next week.

D-line backup accepts his role

Playing behind Georgia Tech’s front four lends itself to anonymity.

“How can you not talk about them and not be overshadowed?” top backup Elris Anyaibe said. “They’re so amazing, I don’t get mad. The backups just gotta do what we’ve gotta do when we get in there.”

The fifth-year defensive tackle delivered in his first career start Thursday. With Walker out with a sprained ankle, Anyaibe led the linemen with five tackles and had a 10-yard sack.

“He’s played pretty solid all year,” Johnson said. “With Vance down, he went out, really played hard and he played very consistently.”

Anyaibe (6 feet 3, 280 pounds) has played in 46 games, so his performance didn’t surprise fellow tackle Darryl Richard.

“Elris has played valuable minutes for us for years,” Richard said. “They didn’t know too much about him. Those guys up front knew everything about our starting front four and tried to key off that stuff; they couldn’t get a good key off Elris, and it caused some confusion for them.”

Preparation pays off for Johnson

The biggest play in Thursday’s 41-23 win over Miami — defensive end Michael Johnson’s interception return for a touchdown — was a product of preparation.

The defensive end smelled a quick throw by Robert Marve because the left tackle tried to cut-block him.

“[Defensive line] coach [Giff] Smith says get your hands down and stay off the cut block, then get your hands up,” Johnson said. “When they’re trying to cut you, they’re trying to get the ball out hot. It happened, and the Nike gloves worked good.”

Johnson stopped his pass rush, caught the bullet and took it back 26 yards. His first career pick gave Tech a 10-0 second-quarter lead.

Rare holiday treat (cheesy writeup!!!)

.15* WMU +11 -110 (WSEX)

.10* WMU +12 -110 (WSEX):

First off I had this line at -9.5. So we have great value betting against Ball State once again. My only concern going into this game besides Nate Davis and arguably the best D in the MAC is the officiating. Last week I witnessed probably the worst, one sided, officiated game in my lifetime. I'm not going to go into details as to what calls and what times they occured as I don't like living in the past and sound like I'm making excuses.

This week we have Western Michigan which in my mind was the better football team a few weeks back when losing against CMU
(just like how OKL was better than TEX). Sometimes the final score doesn't reflect which team looked more impressive (this is why watching games is essential to capping). When talking about the best QB's in the MAC many here will probably mention Davis and LeFevour and rightfully so but I don't think Hiller gets enough attention. Hes played lights out all year even in his two road losses against the aforementioned CMU team and Nebraska. In this game you'll also get to witness one of the better wideouts this conference has to offer in Jamarko Simmons (92 rec 1100 yds). While not a household name his consistency throughout the year has been second to none in the conference. They also will get back this week Schneider Julien a very dependable third reciever to go with the often overlooked Juan Nunez (53 rec 644) whos having an outstanding year of his own. While their passing game gets most of the love ala Ball State they also have a good enough running game to give them balance with their now healthy Brandon West. While not very powerful West relies mostly on his quickness and shiftiness to get his yardage (5.1 ypc). Don't expect a big game from him in the running game in tonights contest as they'll use him mostly to keep the defense honest. He and Winchester (his back up) also contribute a good deal in the passing game so expect some passes being dumped to them sometime in this game.
CMU's defense while not very impressive on paper and in the stat line applies to old addage bend but don't break and is successful in doing so more times than not. They also are an opportunistic bunch which has managed to pick off at least one pass in each contest since their win against the ultra conservative Temple team in late Semptember.
Bottom line WMU has the offense to move the football against a pretty stingy Ball State defense. They go 3 deep at WR (all talented) and possess two decent backs in order to keep defenses honest. On the flip side their defense while not very stout they are opportunistic and make you drive down the field with efficiency.
While I expect Ball State to score possibly even into the 30's (weather conditions not withstanding) I also suspect a good offensive performance from Hiller and company.
Lets not forget if WMU manages to win this game we have a 3 way tie for first place in the western division. This game does mean more than just beating an undefeated team.

So why such a small wager? Ball State is at home, officiating, superior D, and better QB.

You are spot on about the officiating last week. The MAC is the most crooked in football (behind the NFL) and proved true last week, giving CMU the hose on several KEY plays.

Tonights card

.15* WMU +11
.10* WMU +12
.08* Navy +3 -107 (MB)
.02* Navy ML +135 (MB)
.05* WMU U55 -110
.05* WMU U56 -102 (BJ)

Don't forget this week and next I'll be playing my 2*: $200 1*: $100

So these are rather small plays for me in comparison to the previous weeks so please proceed with that in mind.

Once we get into the bowl season I will increase my increments some (probably 2*: $400)

Gas Man: I concur with that observation. Had this been just about any other conference this would had been a .35* play.
