TUESDAY 2-3 -5.90 UNITS

Here are tonights selections:

7 Units Rutgers -2.5 +102

Rutgers (3-1 ATS, 3-0 ATS) hasn't played for a week since defeating Temple 77-67 last Wednesday and should be more than ready for a young Nittany squad. Their only loss was to a good Wisconsin team 55-43 as a 14-point dog. For Rutgers, Herve Lamizana (14 ppg) and Ricky Shields (13 ppg) can go off at any time. Penn State (3-2 SU, 3-1 ATS) got a big taste of the Pitt Panthers Saturday, losing 64-37. In a game with few Nittany highlights, Penn State shot just 28% from the field. The young Nittany Lions began the season with a nail-biting loss to Georgetown 79-78 before rolling off 3 straight wins. 6’-11” Jan Jagla (18 ppg) has come along nicely as a reliable low-post scorer along with DeForrest Riley. Penn State is an opportunity target for Rutgers!!!

7 Units Creighton -8 -104

The Big 12 meets the Missouri Valley Conference and both teams come in unbeaten! Nebraska (5-0) has a nice balance with 6'-9" 240-lb junior John Turek (12 ppg, 10 rpg) up front and senior guard Nate Johnson running the break. They play great defense (58 ppg allowed) and beat Arizona State 66-60. This will also be their first road game. The Creighton Blue Jays (4-0 SU, 2-0 ATS) have a nice frontcourt of their own with 6’-8” senior forward Brody Deren (12 points/7 rebounds per game) and 6’-10” senior Joe Dabbert (5 rpg). Creighton is outscoring foes by a 77-51 average, though they've played mostly cupcakes, with the possible exception of a 79-44 rout at San Diego. Creighton was 19-1 SU & 4-12-1 ATS at home last season and won 81-73 at Nebraska as a 5-point road favorite!!!

5 Units Indiana U +7.5 -108

An in-state rivalry game here with both teams looking for respect. Indiana has lost two straight to Wake Forest and Missouri 63-58 on Saturday. IU is being outscored 75-67 while shooting just 40% and yielding 43%. Center George Leach sprained his ankle in the opening game of the season against North Carolina-Greensboro and is not expected back until Jan. 6. No surprise that so far this season, it has been the Bracey Wright Show for the Hoosiers. He is the only Hoosier averaging in double figures, scoring 23.8 ppg. Senior forward A.J. Moye is averaging 7.5 ppg while shooting just 36.8 percent from the floor. Notre Dame (2-2 SU, 0-3 ATS) has had a terrible time shooting the ball and is averaging just 34% from the field while giving up 40%. The outside defense has been equally bad as opponents are hitting 43% from downtown to the Irish' 24%. Both teams are struggling mightily. No question Wright can score, but will it be enough against the Irish who can go inside to Torin Francis before Thomas gets to takes over!!!

5 Units Kansas State -4 -103

Wichita State (5-1 SU, 3-1 ATS) is off to a great start with a veteran team. They've only played one good team, and lost 84-81 to Boston College as a +2 dog. They have a good offense (74.8 ppg) with great depth in the frontcourt with 6’-8” junior Rob Kampman (12 ppg, 6 rpg) and 6’-10”, 250-lb sophomore C Paul Miller (7 rpg). Wichita State was just 5-8 SU on the road last season, though a strong 9-3 ATS. Kansas State cruised through the first 4 games of the schedule undefeated until hitting an Oregon State roadblock Saturday in losing in overtime 87-82. The Wildcats (4-1 SU, 1-1 ATS) are a well balanced squad with experience. Guard Tim Ellis and 6'-8" Jeremiah Massey both average 13 ppg. Kansas State beat Wichita State 79-66 in a pick 'em game last year and this time around they're at home!!!

3 Units Florida -10 -107

The Gators are now the next holder of the not-yet relevant #1 slot of the polls after crushing in-state opponent Stetson 74-61. Florida (5-0 SU & 2-0 ATS) is featuring 3 starters at 6-foot-9. The team is being led by Sophomore Forward Matt Walsh, who is averaging 17 points and 4 assists per game, and sophomore Guard Anthony Roberson (16 ppg, 5 apg). The Gators now get ACC challenger, Maryland (4-2 SU, 2-3 ATS). Maryland is coming off a tough weekend stretch with an OT loss to West Virginia, 78-77 SU, after getting thumped by Gonzaga 82-68 SU, as part of the BB & T Classic. It does not get any easier for the Turtles as they go to Florida. Florida was 16-4 SU (8-8 ATS) at home last season and is undefeated so far this year. The Terps were just 6-6 SU (3-9 ATS) on the road last year. Although, the Terps are averaging 81 points a game, this will be Maryland’s first official Away game and this is not a good place to start after 2 straight losses. Florida is only allowing 62 points per game at home. Last year, Florida had a little turtle soup at Maryland 69-64 SU. Florida should be even stronger at home!!!

3 Units Seton Hall +9 -103

Seton Hall (3-1 SU, 1-1 ATS) held serve in Alaska, sandwiching victories over Alaska-Anchorage and Liberty in between a 12-point lose to Purdue. John Allen leads the team in scoring with 17 ppg. Duke transfer Andre Sweet has been outstanding in his first chance to take the court as a starter. The senior leads the team in rebounding and is third in points. Andre Barrett wishes he didn't lead the team in turnovers. The point guard has 17 in four games, an inglorious 4.25 per contest. J.R. Morris has been big off the bench, averaging 8.3 points in 19.3 minutes. The Louisville Cardinals could be without their leading score (Garcia) tonight (due to personal reasons). Francisco Garcia a 6'7 soph averaging 17 ppg, 4 rpg and 5 apg, while 6'6" Luke Whitehead at 17 ppg and 10 rpg is also a major presence. Point guard Taquan Dean played well in the opener, scoring 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting, 5-of-7 from 3-point range, and passing for six assists with only one turnover in 34 minutes. Whitehead, despite playing head-to-head against Iowa's 6-11 Jared Reiner, finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds, his sixth double-double in seven games dating to last season. He did it again with 22 points and 10 boards vs. Western Kentucky. Louisville is not particularly big but they are deep and have several streak shooters that can shoot out the lights. Home court says it all here for the talented Pitino five!!!

I like your FLA play, I am against you on Kansas st, I just think the Shockers are the better team. I expected a line near pickum or +2. Just think it is too many points to give to an experienced squad. GL with the rest of your plays though.

I like your plays just a little confused on the Seton Hall play. If you didnt look at your selection it would seem you are taking Louisville. You talk about how they have streak shooters and a strong homecourt advantage and a deep bench. For SHU you say they beat Liberty and Alaska, which are two cupcakes in essence. I think SHU gets the cover but you analysis seems to favor Louisville. Does this make sense what I'm saying?
