Wednesday’s NBA Playoffs Betting Preview and Odds

Atlanta Hawks at Washington Wizards (-5.5, 212.5)

Series tied 2-2

ABOUT THE HAWKS (45-41 SU, 41-45 ATS, 34-49-3 O/U): Washington controlled the first two games at home but it was a different story in Atlanta, with the Hawks emerging as the more aggressive team and rolling to a pair of wins by an average of 14 points. Atlanta's strength on the interior in Game 4 came from center Dwight Howard, who failed to score more than seven points in any of the first three games before exploding for 16 points and 15 rebounds in Game 4. "Obviously, it was his best game," Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer told reporters of Howard. "We needed that extra boost. He certainly brought it. I thought is defense, his activity on the boards, his second- and third-efforts getting rebounds. We need more of that every night, every possession. When he’s like that, I think it can help carry his teammates and move us forward." Howard was one of seven Atlanta players to score in double figures in Game 4.

ABOUT THE WIZARDS (51-35 SU, 44-41-1 ATS, 53-32-1 O/U): The Wizards will try to hang onto homecourt advantage and take the series lead when they host the Hawks in Game 5 on Wednesday. The Wizards are searching for answers after getting beaten on the interior and relying too heavily on guards John Wall and Bradley Beal for offense. Washington was outscored in the paint by a combined 104-64 in Games 3 and 4, and interior defense will be a focus moving forward. "They got too many layups, too many easy points around the paint," Brooks told reporters after Game 4. "Howard did, definitely ... hopefully we can counter that with some good positioning so he doesn’t get the lobs and the easy points around the paint. And if so we can wrap him up, put him on the free-throw line. But other than that, we have to keep them out of the paint as much as we can." Wizards center Marcin Gortat grabbed 18 rebounds in Game 4 but managed just two points.

LINE HISTORY: The Wizards opened as 5.5-point home favorites and as of Tuesday night that point spread hasn't budged. The total opened at 212 and jumped slightly to 212.5.

INJURY REPORT:

Hawks - No injuries to report.

Wizards - C I. Mahinmi (Out Indefinitely, calf).

TRENDS:

* Hawks are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up win.
* Wizards are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 Conference Quarterfinals games.
* Under is 7-1-1 in Hawks last 9 games playing on 1 days rest.
* Over is 8-2 in Wizards last 10 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
* Home team is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings.

Chicago Bulls at Boston Celtics (-8, 202)

Series tied 2-2

ABOUT THE BULLS (43-43 SU, 44-42-0 ATS, 34-51-1 O/U): After shooting 46.7 percent and averaging 25 assists in two wins at Boston, Chicago dipped to 40.1 percent with 16.5 assists in the two games without Rondo at home. While the team waits on a possible Rondo return, Isaiah Canaan will be thrust into the starting lineup for Game 5 after emerging to score 13 points in 34 minutes of Sunday's loss. "It really tests your mental part of basketball," Canaan told reporters when asked about being inactive for the first three games and watching many regular-season games from the sideline. "Our job is to play, whenever it may be. It may be the first 10 games of the season. It may be the last 10 games. Everybody on this team wants to play, and you can only have five out there. So whenever your name is called, you've got to be ready to go, no matter when it is." Jimmy Butler scored a team-high 33 points with nine assists and one turnover in Game 4, attempting 23 free throws one game after failing to get to the line.

ABOUT THE CELTICS (55-31 SU, 42-42-2 ATS, 41-41-4 O/U): All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas, whose playoff experience has been dominated by the grief of losing his sister in a car accident prior to the series, had his best game of the set with 33 points in a 104-95 win in a Game 4 equalizer on Sunday. Coach Brad Stevens' decision to go small - including the insertion of Gerald Green into the starting lineup - has transformed the series. Green scored 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting to go along with seven rebounds in Game 4 while regular starter Amir Johnson did not see a single minute of action. Aside from Green, the Celtics were 6-for-28 from long range and Thomas has made just 4-of-21 over his last three games, although he carved up the Bulls with dribble penetration and a string of tough layups in Game 4.

LINE HISTORY: The Celtics hit the betting board as 7.5-point home favorites for this crucial Game 5 and by Tuesday evening that number was bet up to -8. The total opened at 202 and has yet to move.

INJURY REPORT:

Bulls - PG R. Rondo (Questionable, thumb).

Celtics - SF J. Brown (Questionable, illness).

TRENDS:

* Bulls are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games.
* Celtics are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 home games.
* Over is 7-0 in Bulls last 7 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
* Under is 4-1 in Celtics last 5 games playing on 2 days rest.
* Road team is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings.

Play on: OVER 9½ +105

Reds vs. Brewers Over 9.5

This play just missed out on our premium card. The number five and six offense in the Major Leagues square off on Wednesday afternoon in Milwaukee. Eric Thames has been on fire for the Brewers having already hit ten home runs this season. Seven of those ten have come against this Reds team. It isn't really a marquee pitching match up either. On the mound for the Reds is Wily Peralta who in his last start gave up six runs in four innings pitched.

For the Reds is Rookie Davis who in seven innings of work has given up five runs so far. Some trends to note. Over is 4-0 in Reds last 4 overall. Over is 7-1 in Brewers last 8 overall. Over is 9-2-1 in the last 12 meetings in Milwaukee. This is going to be a shootout.

Back the Over. Good Luck, Razor Ray.

Yankees vs. Red Sox
Yankees +107 at BETONLINE

Free Pick on New York Yankees +

I like the value here with the Yankees as a dog in the series opener against rival Boston. I actually had this as a premium play before yesterday's game was postponed due to rain. New York leads all of baseball with a +30 run differential and I just don't feel they are getting the respect they deserve. On top of that, the Red Sox are sending out last year's Cy Young winner Rick Porcello. Even though Porcello hasn't pitched well early, he's still getting a lot of public love. I think last year was more of a fluke than anything and I look for him to have an up and down season. On flip side of this, the Yankees are sending out Luis Severino, who has pitched better than his ERA would suggest. Severino has a 4.05 ERA in 3 starts, but a mere 0.800 WHIP. He's also got an impressive 21 strikeouts in his last 15 innings of work. Take New York!

Play on: OVER 8 -115

#MLB Free Pick from Mike Lundin
Play: Over
Rating: 5/10*

The Toronto Blue Jays won last night's matchup 6-5, and I think we'll see plenty of action over the plate again tonight.

The Cardinals' Carlos Martinez (0-3, 4.76 ERA) opened the season with 7 1/3 scoreless innings against the Cubs, but he's been roughed up in each of his last three starts since. He was knocked around for five runs on seven hits with a pair of home runs in five innings of a 7-5 loss at Milwaukee his last time out.

The Blue Jays hand the ball to Mat Latos (0-0, 7.20 ERA) who conceded four runs on six hits and three walks in five innings at LAA on April 21 in his lone start so far this season. He's posted a 5.76 ERA in 13 career meetings with St. Louis.

Over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings at Busch Stadium.

Preview: Reds at Brewers

GAME: Cincinnati Reds (10-11) at Milwaukee Brewers (11-11)
DATE/TIME: Wednesday, April 26 - 1:40 PM EST
WHERE: Miller Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Eric Thames spent three years in Korea and became a star while piling up big home run totals, and nothing is changing during his reintegration to the major leagues. Thames, who already set a franchise record for home runs in April with 11, will take aim at the major-league mark when the Milwaukee Brewers host the Cincinnati Reds in the finale of a three-game series on Wednesday.

Thames is particularly prolific against the Reds and bashed his eighth home run in six games versus the division rivals with a two-run shot in the sixth on Tuesday, which broke Carlos Lee's club record of 10 in April and moved him within three of the record of 14 shared by Albert Pujols and Alex Rodriguez. Thames' production is rubbing off on the rest of the offense as well, and utility man Hernan Perez followed up a 2-for-4 performance (double, home run) in Monday's series opener with two triples, a homer and three RBIs in Tuesday's 9-1 triumph. The Reds (10-11) are searching for pitching help after dropping six of their last seven and yielding five or more runs in each of the last five contests. Cincinnati will try to get a boost on Wednesday from right-hander Rookie Davis, who opposes Milwaukee's Wily Peralta.

TV: 1:40 p.m. ET, MLB Network

PITCHING MATCHUP: Reds RH Rookie Davis (0-0, 6.43 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Wily Peralta (3-1, 4.71)

Davis will come off the disabled list to make his third start after taking a line drive off the forearm at Pittsburgh on April 11. Davis, who turns 24 on Saturday, had allowed one run and two hits in four innings against the Pirates before exiting his second major-league start. The North Carolina native was roughed up by Philadelphia in his first turn, yielding four runs and five hits in three frames.

Peralta won his first three starts while allowing a total of five runs but was not anywhere near that sharp against St. Louis on Friday. The Dominican Republic native was knocked around for six runs and nine hits in four innings and failed to notch a strikeout in his first loss of the season. Peralta had little trouble the first time he faced Cincinnati on April 16, when he breezed through six innings while giving up two runs and three hits.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Reds recalled RHP Barrett Astin and optioned RHP Ariel Hernandez to Double-A Pensacola on Tuesday.

2. Milwaukee RF Domingo Santana is 0-for-17 in his last five games.

3. Cincinnati C Devin Mesoraco (hip, shoulder) completed a 20-game rehab assignment on Tuesday and is expected to be added to the major-league roster on Friday.

Preview: Royals at White Sox
GAME: Kansas City Royals (7-13) at Chicago White Sox (10-9)
DATE/TIME: Wednesday, April 26 - 2:10 PM EST
WHERE: Guaranteed Rate Field, Chicago, Illinois

The Kansas City Royals are struggling to score runs, but they aim to halt a six-game losing streak when they visit the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday for the finale of their three-game series. Kansas City was outscored 22-6 while dropping the first two contests of the set and has produced just 11 runs during its skid.

The Royals scored three times in the ninth inning of Tuesday's 10-5 loss to halt a dubious club-record stretch of eight consecutive games with fewer than three runs. Kansas City ranks last in the majors in runs scored (52) and batting average (.201), and has slipped into the American League Central basement. Chicago has racked up 29 hits and is 14-for-29 with runners in scoring position while scoring in double digits in consecutive games for the first time since May 26-27, 2012. Leury Garcia (6-for-8), Todd Frazier (five RBIs), Avisail Garcia (4-for-9, three runs scored) and Jose Abreu (4-for-9) are among the White Sox hitters performing well in the series.

TV: 2:10 p.m. ET, MLB Network, FSN Kansas City, WGN (Chicago)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Royals RH Nathan Karns (0-1, 6.35 ERA) vs. White Sox LH Jose Quintana (0-4, 6.17)

Karns lost to Texas in his last turn as he gave up six runs and five hits in 4 2/3 innings. The 29-year-old served up a career-worst four homers while losing for the first time in four appearances (three starts) since being acquired by the Royals. Karns is 0-1 with a 4.96 ERA in three career starts against Chicago and has served up two homers to Avisail Garcia.

Quintana traditionally struggles against the Royals, posting a 1-9 record and 4.39 ERA in 22 career starts. The 28-year-old has lost all four of his turns this year and has dropped five straight decisions dating back to last season, one shy of his career-worst stretch that occurred in 2016. Quintana lost to Cleveland in his last outing, when he gave up three runs and five hits in six innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Royals 1B Eric Hosmer, who is batting just .195 with one homer and five RBIs this season, is hitting just .177 with two blasts in 62 career at-bats versus Quintana.

2. Avisail Garcia went 3-for-5 on Tuesday to increase his AL-leading batting average to .380.

3. Chicago placed RHP Zach Putnam (elbow) on the 10-day disabled list and reached down to Triple-A Charlotte to recall RHP Chris Beck, who served up two homers in Kansas City's three-run ninth on Tuesday.

Preview: Astros at Indians
GAME: Houston Astros (14-6) at Cleveland Indians (10-9)
DATE/TIME: Wednesday, April 26 - 6:10 PM EST
WHERE: Progressive Field, Cleveland, Ohio

Trevor Bauer is in an advantageous position to pull himself out of an early hole and even his record, if history is any indication. Bauer looks to emerge victorious for the sixth time in as many career starts versus the Houston Astros on Wednesday as the Cleveland Indians attempt to regain their footing after a tough beginning at Progressive Field.

Bauer sports a 5-0 career mark with a 1.97 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 32 innings against the Astros, with two wins and nine punchouts coming last year. While those are positive numbers, Cleveland fell for the fifth time in its last six at home with a 4-2 setback in Tuesday's series-opening clash with Houston. Winners of 10 of their last 12, the American League West-leading Astros hardly were in the celebratory mood after seeing All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve and right fielder Teoscar Hernandez leave the game with injuries following a collision. Manager A.J. Hinch told reporters that Altuve did not sustain a concussion after his chase of a fly ball ended with an impromptu meeting with his teammate and is considered day-to-day while Hernandez was carted off with a left knee contusion.

TV: 6:10 p.m. ET, ROOT Southwest (Houston), SportsTime Ohio (Cleveland)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Astros RH Lance McCullers Jr (2-0, 3.38 ERA) vs. Indians RH Trevor Bauer (1-2, 6.35)

McCullers answered a disastrous outing with a stellar one, as the 23-year-old scattered three hits and struck out eight in 6 2/3 scoreless innings of a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday. While McCullers dominated his recent trip to the mound, his road performance continues to leave plenty to be desired as he owns a 3-8 mark with a 5.11 ERA away from Minute Maid Park. McCullers has limited experience against the Indians, although Edwin Encarnacion greeted him with a solo homer in his two at-bats versus the hurler.

After two difficult outings, Bauer turned in a solid performance on Thursday after allowing two runs on three hits and striking out seven in 6 1/3 innings of a 6-2 triumph over Minnesota. The 26-year-old handcuffed Houston in his first encounter last year, scattering three hits over seven scoreless innings before overcoming two homers in five frames on Sept. 8. Yuli Gurriel, who went deep off Bauer in the latter contest, is 11-for-23 with four RBIs and five runs scored in his last six games overall.

WALK-OFFS

1. Cleveland LF Michael Brantley belted a solo homer in the ninth inning on Tuesday, improving to 14-for-38 with four homers and seven RBIs during his nine-game hitting streak.

2. Houston SS Carlos Correa went 2-for-4 in the series opener and has three hits in his last two contests after an 0-for-17 stretch in his previous five.

3. Indians 3B Jose Ramirez has hit safely in six of his last seven home games, going 13-for-25 in that stretch.

Preview: Cubs at Pirates
GAME: Chicago Cubs (12-8) at Pittsburgh Pirates (8-12)
DATE/TIME: Wednesday, April 26 - 7:05 PM EST
WHERE: PNC Park, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Left-hander Jon Lester will attempt to bounce back from his worst outing of the season and give his team its third straight quality start when the visiting Chicago Cubs wrap up a three-game series at the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday night. Chicago has won six of seven and will look to complete a three-game sweep of the Pirates.

Lester turned in his best performance against the Pirates in Chicago on April 16, limiting them to three hits over seven innings before his bullpen surrendered six runs. The Cubs amassed 53 runs over a six-game span following a 14-3 win in the series opener, but made an unearned run stand up in Tuesday's 1-0 triumph -- Chicago's first victory without an RBI since July 2011. Pittsburgh's hard-luck loss came hours after Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred revealed that Pirates star center fielder Starling Marte declined to appeal last week's 80-game suspension. Since a three-game sweep of the Cubs in Chicago, Pittsburgh has dropped six of its last eight games.

TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, CSN Chicago-Plus, ROOT (Pittsburgh)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cubs LH Jon Lester (0-0, 2.66 ERA) vs. Pirates RH Tyler Glasnow (0-1, 7.94)

Lester surrendered five runs on a season-high nine hits over 5 2/3 innings at Cincinnati in his last outing. He permitted two runs on 14 hits over his first three starts but Chicago scored seven runs in that span. The 33-year-old Lester was 2-1 with a 3.80 ERA in four starts against Pittsburgh last season, but he lasted only three innings and gave up five runs in his last start at PNC Park.

Glasnow will be making his 11th career appearance and eighth start in his search to notch his first major league win. The 23-year-old Glasnow lasted 4 2/3 innings at the New York Mets on Friday, giving up three runs (one earned) on seven hits, after allowing four first-inning runs and six total at Chicago in his previous turn. Glasnow has yet to pitch beyond 5 1/3 innings in his career.

WALK-OFFS

1. Pirates 1B Josh Bell had his seven-game hitting streak halted but has reached base in 10 straight.

2. Cubs SS Addison Russell is 7-for-13 with five runs scored during a three-game hitting streak.

3. The Pirates place LHP Antonio Bastardo on the 10-day DL and recalled RHP Johnny Barbato from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Preview: Marlins at Phillies
GAME: Miami Marlins (10-8) at Philadelphia Phillies (9-9)
DATE/TIME: Wednesday, April 26 - 7:05 PM EST
WHERE: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Wei-Yin Chen is in his second season of a five-year, $80 million deal, making the veteran left-hander the highest-paid pitcher on the Miami Marlins. With his value to the team underscored by being removed from a potential no-hit bid in his last outing, Chen will be on the mound Wednesday as the Marlins visit the Philadelphia Phillies to begin their series after Tuesday's opener was rained out.

Chen tossed seven no-hit innings on 100 pitches at Seattle before manager Don Mattingly gave him the hook on April 18, citing his continuing recovery from an ailing ulnar collateral ligament. Giancarlo Stanton makes a pretty penny too on the heels of signing a 13-year, $325 million deal in 2015, and the slugger has gotten healthy of late with an RBI single in Sunday's 7-3 victory over San Diego to improve to 9-for-17 with four homers, seven RBIs and five runs scored during his four-game hitting streak. While Miami has won two in a row, Cesar Hernandez (club-best four homers) helped Philadelphia double that total by igniting a back-to-back-to-back homer stretch to highlight a sweep of Atlanta over the weekend. The 26-year-old Venezuelan went 7-for-13 with five runs scored against the Braves and joins Freddy Galvis in going 5-for-12 in his career versus Chen.

TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, FSN Florida (Miami), CSN Philadelphia

PITCHING MATCHUP: Marlins LH Wei-Yin Chen (2-0, 3.94 ERA) vs. Phillies RH Vince Velasquez (0-2, 7.20)

Chen yielded four runs on 11 hits in two of three outings last season versus Philadelphia en route to posting an 0-2 mark against the division rival. The veteran has stumbled in his last three games versus the Phillies on the heels of a brilliant performance on June 15, 2015, when he scattered four hits and struck out nine over eight scoreless innings as a member of the Baltimore Orioles. Chen will need to remain wary of Daniel Nava, who has hit safely in seven of his last nine games overall and is 7-for-17 with a home run and three RBIs versus the hurler.

Velasquez pitched well in his last outing before running into trouble late as he saw his scoreless outing go by the boards with a three-run homer by Jay Bruce in the sixth. The 24-year-old allowed just those three runs on five hits in six innings before avoiding a third straight loss after Philadelphia rallied to tie the score. Velasquez owns a 1-0 mark to go along with a 2.50 ERA in three career starts versus Miami and struck out 20 batters in 18 innings - including Stanton on three occasions in six at-bats.

WALK-OFFS

1. With the series-opening pitchers shuffled to Wednesday, Philadelphia has elected to shuffle rookie RHP Nick Pivetta's major-league debut to Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

2. Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna, who leads the team with 21 RBIs in 2017, had 18 hits in 17 meetings with the Phillies last season.

3. The teams will announced a makeup date for Tuesday's series opener at a later date.

Preview: Rays at Orioles
GAME: Tampa Bay Rays (11-11) at Baltimore Orioles (13-6)
DATE/TIME: Wednesday, April 26 - 7:05 PM EST
WHERE: Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore, Maryland

Dylan Bundy appears ready to live up to the enormous promise that led the Baltimore Orioles to draft him with the No. 4 overall pick in 2011. Bundy goes for his fourth victory and the Orioles look to rebound from their first shutout loss of the season in Wednesday's rubber match of a three-game set against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays.

Baltimore has not lost a series yet this year but was blanked on two hits by five Tampa Bay relievers after manager Kevin Cash elected to hold out scheduled starter Erasmo Ramírez due to the dreary weather conditions. Bundy carries a scoreless innings streak of 13 into his matchup against fellow right-hander Alex Cobb, who owns an 4-1 record and 1.84 ERA in eight career starts versus the Orioles. Rays right fielder Steven Souza, named the American League Player of the Week, shook off an elbow contusion sustained in the series opener and was back in the lineup Tuesday. Souza collected three hits -- his fifth multi-hit effort in nine games -- as the Rays won for only the second time in nine road contests.

TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, FSN Sun (Tampa Bay), MASN (Baltimore)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rays RH Alex Cobb (1-2, 4.88 ERA) vs. Orioles RH Dylan Bundy (3-1, 1.37)

Cobb tied his season high with seven strikeouts against Houston last time out but permitted four runs for the third consecutive start and has been touched for 20 hits over his last two turns. The long ball also has been an issue for Cobb, who has coughed up five homers in his four starts in his first full season since undergoing Tommy John surgery. Chris Davis and Manny Machado are a combined 3-for-31 against Cobb.

Bundy matched his longest outing of the season last time out, limiting the Boston Red Sox to six hits over seven innings to followed up six scoreless innings of five-hit ball in his previous turn at Toronto. Bundy has allowed four runs in his four starts and has not surrendered a homer after yielding 18 in 109 2/3 innings last year. Kevin Kiermaier and Evan Longoria are both 2-for-5 with a homer versus Bundy.

WALK-OFFS

1. Souza is 15-for-37 with two homers and nine RBIs in the past nine games.

2. Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop is 6-for-30 at home as opposed to 12-for-34 on the road.

3. Baltimore recalled LHP Paul Fry from Triple-A Norfolk and optioned RHP Stefan Crichton to the minor league affiliate.

Preview: Mariners at Tigers
GAME: Seattle Mariners (8-13) at Detroit Tigers (11-8)
DATE/TIME: Wednesday, April 26 - 7:10 PM EST
WHERE: Comerica Park, Detroit, Michigan

The Detroit Tigers won't have a problem surviving Miguel Cabrera's stint on the disabled list if they continue to post double-digit runs every game. The Tigers will attempt to score 13 or more runs for the third straight contest and post their fourth consecutive win when they host the Seattle Mariners in the second of a three-game set on Wednesday.

Cabrera hit the disabled list just as Detroit (11-8) was finishing off a four-game losing streak and was on the bench as the team exploded for 13 runs in the series finale at Minnesota on Sunday. Those bats carried over to the start of a 10-game homestand on Tuesday as the Tigers pounded out 24 hits - at least one from every starter and four from second baseman Ian Kinsler - in a 19-9 win over the Mariners. Seattle (8-13) did some damage of its own with 16 hits in the opener but could not overcome ace Felix Hernandez getting knocked out after the second inning. Trying to stifle those offenses on Wednesday will be left-handers James Paxton for the Mariners and Daniel Norris for the Tigers.

TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, ROOT (Seattle), FSN Detroit

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mariners LH James Paxton (2-0, 1.78 ERA) vs. Tigers LH Daniel Norris (1-1, 3.71)

Paxton began the season with a streak of 23 straight scoreless innings before running into trouble at Oakland on Thursday, when he was reached for five runs and nine hits over 4 1/3 innings. The 28-year-old still managed eight strikeouts in the game and owns a total of 30 k's while issuing only five walks in 25 1/3 innings on the season. Paxton is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 18 2/3 total innings across three career starts against Detroit.

Norris had his own run of good fortune come to an end last time out, when he was reached for five runs (four earned) and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings at Tampa Bay. The Tennessee native, who turned 24 on Tuesday, posted a quality start in his first two turns - including six scoreless innings on two hits at Cleveland on April 14. Norris faced Seattle twice last season and did not factor in the decision in either turn while yielding a total of four runs in 10 innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Mariners leading hitter OF Mitch Haniger (.338) left Tuesday's game in the third inning with an oblique strain.

2. Tigers C/1B Alex Avila homered in each of the last two games while starting in place of Cabrera.

3. Seattle 3B Kyle Seager (hip) sat out the last two games and is day-to-day.

PREDICTION: Mariners 4, Tigers 3
